You can oppose planning permission on the grounds of a reduction in natural light, but not because you may be ovelooked or lose a view.

There is a solution to every problem Mrs Barber. I'm sure that all but those who are not objecting for the sake of it can appreciate the value of working with their hometown club as opposed to working to undermine it, as all too many have taken delight in doing in the past. Kill these plans and you likely kill the club. Few small clubs are going to survive as professional clubs the more that the money man tighten their grip on football. Latics are already at least ten years behind some similar-sized clubs in terms of facilities. The owners know that the only chance of long-term survival is to make the club self-financing. This stadium redevelopment is the only way to achieve that.

As a proud Roytonian myself I can understand Mrs.Barbers concern, too many changes in recent years in our part of the Borough,But I can not see modern style appartments being 6 storey,s high, the more modern developments tend to be no more than 3 storeys. As far as Parking problems, the club could introduce a park and ride scheme from other parts of the borough. As a lifelong Latics fan I would say without any doubts that the current board of Directors are the most open and approachable of modern times and it would be wise for Mrs Barber and her neighbours to query the club if they have any grey areas, rather than stoke up a battle based on hearsay through the local press,as happened with the Clayton Dog Toilet, sorry,Playing fields. This could be a make or break time for both Latics and the Rugby,if this project fails would the residents prefer to see the clubs stagnate, fade away and leave way for a housing estate the size of Thorp Farm or Royley? Open and honest Dialogue from day one should prevent another Watersheddings style disaster and give the town a stadium to be proud of.
