  1. True..but..different manager, different ideas, different team..you never know. If Nuttall does well on loan, then I suspect he would not want a return to BP and I can't say I blame him for not wanting to. Only time will tell and good luck to the players who took the leap into moving elsewhere for another bite at the cherry.
  2. Ok. Then good luck to him, hopefully more on the way out as well.
  3. He's going to a League One team? If so, I hope it's a permanent rather than a loan.
  4. It's not just football and the club with the Rothwell's, it's the town of Oldham, the community and the value of the club to the community and sports in the town. The guy is an altruistic philanthropist, that's why he is rowing the Atlantic for a good cause. It's in his nature.
  5. I totally agree, we need more in midfield to feed the strikers and not punting it over the top like the donkeys were doing last Saturday. That's down to Mellon to make sure they don't do that. We've seen glimpses of what our midfield can do, he needs to get them consistent. I still believe our forward line is now the best in this league, even beyond Chesterfield's..we just need the rest to step up to the mark.
  6. I can't figure you out sometimes. Negativity or tongue-in-cheek? Garner is a good signing for this level of football. We're non-league. If he'd gone to one of our rivals, I'm pretty sure we would be saying how good a signing it was for this level. I can't imagine many [if any] defences relishing the thought of the possibility of potentially facing up to Norwood, Dallas and Garner in the opposition's forward line..with big Mike waiting in the wings. Over to you, Mr Mellon.
  7. Who is the new manager? We could be down to eighth by the time we play them.
  8. Missed a huge opportunity to cement our place in the playoff zone and gain ground on the teams we can feasibly catch. This BP hoodoo needs putting to bed as soon as possible. Woking will be fucking cock-a-hoop at taking the points while our fans are left to trudge home in a sulk, again.
  9. Disappointing at the moment, with some of other results being in our favour. These things happen in football. though.
  10. When I think back to the summer business undertaken by Unsworth and the whiff of excitement his spiel gave us regarding unparalleled training and the 'apparent' quality of the signings, I can fully understand any caution in getting too enthusiastic with the latest batch of recruits. Of the ones brought in, only Dallas is known to me but I have much more faith in Mellon than I ever had in big Dave. Tomorrow should be interesting in the line up and formation we put out against Barnet. Norwood and Dallas up front should be enough to put the frighteners on any non-league defence.
  11. Seems like he is a one goal in two or three games kind of striker. Between him and Norwood [albeit with the proper service] they should bag plenty of goals. It seems a decent bit of business to me, I'm not sure why some are underwhelmed.
  12. I don't think anyone making those comments actually expects it to happen, it's just a knee-jerk reaction to an embarrassing defeat. Chesterfield sent out 11 non-first-team players against Welling. Mellon gave fringe players a chance and they wasted it.
  13. Seven NL teams out, including the 'Champions'.
  14. Unbelievable! At least that's another distraction out of the way.
  15. I don't think it will. Of course, respect any opposition but we need to stop 'bigging' them up and let them worry about us. The bench is a strong one..metaphorically speaking.
  16. I wouldn't say we are in that miraculous position just yet and the playoffs are not actually the playoffs until the end of the season.
  17. I feel quite happy with Conlon signing and the pedigree does suggest the club's intent to build a squad capable of progressing out of this league. Credit to Mellon and his team for getting this one over the line, we now appear to have an actual, proper manager and assistant in place. I still believe promotion [without a miraculous run and set of circumstance] is not on the cards this season, however, next season could be it.
  18. We're a non-league club, Hudson is probably a very good 'keeper for this league.
