  1. Christ almighty, back to the days of scoring one more than the oppo and biting our nails. Idiot fans, getting rid of them is nigh on impossible but what a game that was. Chuffed for all of them especially Hope getting back with a goal, it really could have been a few more had chances been taken but hey, that's football for you. Great start for Mellon and Brabin.
  2. Think he is. Team sheet at dale has Raglan on it, not Shelton.
  3. Comes with a wealth of experience. Let's wait and see. **Why the link to the Middle East?**
  4. Scored something like a 185 goals in the five years since he didn't play for Latics. The saga was long and doomed to failure.
  5. I assume that the purchase history connected to email addresses is the way they have gone with this, otherwise what's to argue I'm not a 'Dale supporter living in Oldham? I'd say Latics supporters scattered randomly throughout the home stands will cause a lot less trouble than a concerted effort from the away stand. An overbearing police presence will, no doubt, cause even more.
  6. I can see him maybe bringing in a few players, if the funds are in place and working with what he has inherited. I have the inclination his playing style may take a while to embed itself into the current team and I am not getting carried away with expecting Latics to start zooming up the league. The next two games this week? I predict a draw at best with 'Dale and what really should be a win at AFC Fylde.
  7. I think the difference this time is we know the successful candidate has a wealth of experience both on the playing and managerial side of things. I remember being distinctly underwhelmed by the appointment of Unsworth and never thought Thompson, as well as he did, would become manager. So many times in the past we have seen appointments which were risky, bewildering and sometimes the obviously cheap option. He appears to know his stuff and what he wants. I am confident he will give the team a playing identity and whether or not it proves successful, we will have to wait and see. Unsworth proved pretty quickly he wasn't manager material, the club persisted too long and it may well have cost another season in the NL. I think we need to be patient, which is easier said than done if results don't come but underneath it all, I feel we have a proper manager at the helm at last.
  8. He's Scottish, I'm married to one and she isn't very "warm" either.
  9. Has no one told him about Latics' fans? #Mellonout I don't know why but I have a good sense of optimism about this appointment.
  10. I just struggle to gauge any sporting competition on commentary alone and much prefer to be visual and yes, we all see something different which is not a bad thing, when you think about it.
  11. I don't listen to commentary as I cannot enjoy [if we ever do] the game the same as watching it. I'm waiting to read more on how Latics played when the fans who went post their thoughts on here.
  12. Five NL teams out to lower opposition, 'Dale being one of them and several more taken to a replay.
  13. Great to get the win, well done to McGahey for coming back strong and netting the goal.
  14. Interesting starting line-up, Raglan and Tollitt back on the bench and no Nuttall.
  15. There should be a "We're gonna score score one more than you!" with a pic of Andy Ritchie of course.
  16. Totally agree. Nothing on the site as of yet, so, has he actually signed on the dotted line? I'm sure they will announce today, seeing as the cat is out the bag, so to speak.
  17. It's all part of the package which made him accept the offer. It means nothing in terms of longevity as we all know from the managerial merry-go-round. I don't get your problem, we have to trust the owners, the board and their decisions, let's just get the fuck on with it.
  18. Gender is probably derived from Genre, could even be Generate and Gene, who knows? That list is just ridiculous, no wonder young people have frazzled brains.
  19. It's the Latics way, to press the red button. marked 'Pissboil'.
  20. As would we all! To be fair, the report says Murray will be overseeing training, nothing about being on the touchline, although the lack of the club announcing the duo departing completely is a bit shoddy.
  21. If Thompson wanted the job but is not being offered it, then he maybe decided there and then to leave and not return to recruitment. We don't know the facts, so we just assume the club has made a tits-up of it? The club may have asked him to take charge this weekend and he flat out refused.
  22. We will probably never find out. If he has decided to leave then that's his decision to make and maybe the club asked him to stay in recruitment and he saw that as a step backward. Who knows but we can't just start slagging the club when we don't actually know the finer details.
  23. How can they announce the new manager if they have not yet made the appointment and logically, of course, Thompson and Redfearn leaving the club is going to be announced. Not knowing all the facts [if we ever do] I feel somewhat disappointed by Thompson leaving before the cup tie on Saturday, which could have a negative impact on the players. Maybe the new person will be in place by then but I wouldn't be counting my chickens.
