  1. Well done to the lad...he could be a key player at right back, next season.
  2. Does the 'question mark' at the end negate the negation and turn it into a positive?
  3. Thanks...it makes sense, now I've seen it in black and white.
  4. Does the length of contract have any bearing on the compensation/fee attainable?
  5. Well, we were questioning his loyalty and I guess this answers the question. I wonder if there is any connection between Penney's departure and Eaves' signing, with the club touting the "length of contract" as a cover? Not that it matters now. Well done Tom and my apologies for being sceptical about your motives.
  6. Let's hope the players do, as well. I don't think that even if this game is the best we've seen all season, it will for one iota of a moment, erase the cack we have had to witness time and time again.
  7. I doubt it...I think they realised how stupid an idea that was, the last time round.
  8. There is such a thing as pride. Oh, and the higher up the team finishes, the better is for the club, the fans, the finances etc. Who cares about "other teams"?
  9. Reading the reports from the fans that went, I'd say totally inept, confused and disinterested. Not good reading for next season.
  10. Forgive me for being cautious...but we have had this 'exciting young prospect' fiasco in the past and all I'm saying is, that if the lad want's to run before he can walk, then the club should not stand in his way. He may succeed elsewhere. If he does, then well done to him - he will always feel that it was the right move and Latics will be left to say "if only...". There are no guarantees that he will succeed at Latics. What concerns me, is that now this speculative information is out in the public forum, if he does stay, he will be under enormous expectation from the fans to deliver the goods and failure to do so will result in yet another whipping boy in the team. I agree that Latics have to weigh up his potential and whether his contract demands are worthy of a gamble, with possible dividends from a potential money-spinning sale at a later stage. Again, given Latics' recent fortune in that department, I am not optimistic.
  11. This lad has done nothing to prove himself at senior level. According to the stats (and they may be a little out of date) he has made 14 appearances as sub, failed to score any goals and been booked twice. That's it! O.k, he may be prolific in the reserves and he could be an exciting prospect, but what, exactly, has he done to warrant whatever crap it is that his agent is most likely filling his head with? If he doesn't want to play for Oldham, then fair enough, it's only natural that he should want the best opportunity for himself. Let him go and stew in another club's reserve team, because we don't need another 'Billy Big Balls' at this club.
  12. It's just such an anti-climax after three good away results, which, to be fair, probably drained what little collective energy the team had left.
  13. Hopefully not, after what seems to be a p**s poor showing.
  14. I would say we use and develop our own youth players, before taking any on loan from another club.
  15. It's called reminiscing about 'The Great Escape'...what's wrong with that? It doesn't mean we haven't moved on. That Southampton game is one of the biggest rollercoaster games I have ever witnessed at BP and Le Tissier's goals were all sheer class, as was Ritchies bullet header. My favourite player? Look at my avatar...the guy had more verve than our entire squad put together.
  16. We just need a few of the other scores tweaking to ease the worries.
