  1. That was the Northern Ireland league, but still he scored 152 goals in 234 games and came here and flopped. The guy we've signed isn't even a professional from Ireland. I'm sure he will be a perfect replacement for Abbott, or most of the half-wits on here will think so.
  2. I really dislike our fans. Fine have it how you all like. You all though Eardley was crap, now he's playing in the Prem. You all got on Wellens back for going missing, etc, now he's in the Championship. You all called Jermaine Johnson lazy, he's on the verge of moving to Forest for 300k. You all think Abbott is crap, but he's going to a bigger club who will finish higher than us this season. And you all píss and moan because we make no progress.
  3. Furman, Abbott and Brill I'm happy for to be here. The rest can pish off. Worthington will be one of our top earners, but he's so average no one will take him for what we're paying him.
  4. If a club puts in 500k, Eaves is gone. Then what? Our two target men have gone. Feeney is injured. That leaves us with Kelly, Brooke (ooh, yes please!), Alessandra, Smalley and Dickov. Relegation beckons. Abbott is the only consistency we have upfront. We're such a shyte club. If Abbott goes I hope when we play Chalrton he tears us a new arsehole and rubs it in Dickhead's face. You don't just sell your best striker, needlessly for 75k. What a load of crap. If he's good enough for Charlton he's good enough for us. This club deserves shít. Around this level you usually end up with big dopey target men (Akinfenwa, Akinbiyi, Zola, Savage, Showunmi), he actually got one with technical ability. The ability to take the ball down, a player with a bit of finesse, perfect foil for a goalscorer. And we let him swan off. We deserve shyte amateur players. Stuff this club. We are a joke. The sooner we move to Failsworth and wither and die the better.
  5. I'm distraught. I haven't been as gutted to see a player go since....ever. I mean when Wellens left recently I was annoyed we;d lost our best midfielder but Abbott top lad as well as our second best player. Dickov you old bastard, stay retired, manage us if you have to, but I would; rather have Pawel Abbott on the pitch than you everytime. He's a good striker, you were an average striker when you were prime, now you wouldn't get in Oldham Town's side. If we have to sell him he's worth 200k if Calvin Zola was.
  6. What a joke. He's our best striker, he's one of the most technically gifted strikers in the division, his hold up play would compliment a goal scoring striker perfectly and he's capable of chipping in with a second striker amount of goal (12-16). I'll be gutted if this happens, Feeney's not been here for 5 minutes and he's already injured, we've got a promising player in Eaves who's likely to be sold. Future Stalybridge Celtic hall of famers Ryan Brooke and Lewis Alessandra, some amateur player from Ireland, which bascially equates to kick about on a park with some mates level of football, and a over the hill Paul Dickov. Stuff you Dickov, Abbott should be getting another 2 year deal, not forced out of the club. Pawel Abbott Oldham's No 9. We never retain our top goalscorers (Beckett, Porter, Davies, Hughes and now Abbott) no wonder we don't make any bloody progress.
  7. But he hasn't gone has he? Is that because it was all unfounded paper talk.
  8. Since the official site had him listed as a striker: http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/page/Profi...,,10337,00.html Since he played primarily as a striker in our reserves alongside Alessandra and since he's played as a striker several times for the first team under both Penney and Shez and scored on some of those occasions (Yeovil away in Shez' last season and Exeter at home last season spring to mind but there may be more). I accept he's more adept at playing wide right but he can play as a striker and as such calms the need for another striker to be brought in, as if 6 wasn't enough already.
  9. Basically we want the Luton 04/05 strike force which got them promoted. Doubt we could afford him tbh unless we sold Eaves. We've got enough strikers as it is: Abbott, Feeney, Alessandra, Brooke, Eaves, Dickov, Smalley
  10. I hope Oldham will monitor Gavin Grant's appeal/parole dates during his 25 year stretch.
  11. And Blitz will respond with "It does, unless you want myself and Daniel to get the administrators in to recover the money the club owes us".
  12. Hereford fans must think they have signed Jack Colback, it's the only thing that can justify those comments. http://unofficialbulls.proboards.com/index...0777&page=1
  13. Honestly it's probably up there with the worst bit of business we've done.
  14. Ah, Carlos Roca. The only winger we've had capable of skinning a player since......ever.
  15. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premie...iker-tom-eaves- I have a feeling that they wouldn't have to bid much more to get him. It's not bad business for a player who has barely played for us. I think we would all like to see him given a season for us to impress and increase his valuation further. Who knows though, he could suffer from Chris Taylor syndrome and go on to have a shocker and his valuation plummet. I bet Simon Blitz is on the blower right now to Alan Hardy shouting "SELL! SELL! SELL!".
  16. Richie Butcher was pretty crap, so was Richie Byrne.
  17. There is little point is this. If we sell him why bring him back? He is a development player, not a proven L1 striker. If we sell him now we might as well use a bit of the money (on wages) to sign another proven striker. If the club who buys him wanted to loan him out it would be to get game time. We could not guarantee this, nor would we want to, he's still young and he's unlikely in his first season to breakthrough with 15-20 goals. At the moment he is our player, so if he does breakthrough and becomes a revelation then his value increases which ultimately benefits us as well as the goals he'd score, but if he doesn't, well we've got him on a 5 year deal, he's still young and he will have gained more experience to carry through to the next season and we're under no pressure when we play him as a 3rd or 4th choice striker. But if he belongs to another club that experience counts for very little for us, we will be pressured to play him first team, and we might as well have gone and got another striker who's already proven. Basically, if we loan him back we're loaning him back on the prospect of him becoming an immediate success this season and scoring us the goals. He's 18 and he's still raw, it's unlikely in his first full season he's going to score a prolific amount of goals. If we don't sell him and he has a really good season for us 15+ goals and then next season we sell him to a Prem club who still see him as "one for the future", he's already proven it at this level and then a loan back would be a sensible option.
  18. Congrats. He's named the child, Jonathan Paul "Jon" Macken II
  19. I think a midtable finish is not beyond the cards but we could be in for another struggle.
