Not chasing every ball down doesn't equate to being lazy, he semi-fit and reserving energy for when he could do something with the ball. He ran into the box to try and make headers, he ran to get on the end of through balls, but you have to understand Abbott is not a pacey striker, he's like Teddy Sheringham, Dimitar Berbatov or Luciano Becchio, he's a target man with a nice touch and technical ability. He's not a headless chicken like Paul Warne.

My second favourite player has just been sold (1st being Gregan), for a pittance. Abbott is not a tit like Lee Hughes, Chris Porter or Craig Davies. For the 5th season in a row we've sold our top scorer. I've had it, we make no progress because we can't keep a consistent front line. I appreciate that I might be a tad irrational slating Dickov but right now but I have no interest in attending our games because I've lost faith in a manager willing to sell our best player for next to nothing. He will have to win me over with results and I just don't see Brooke, Kelly, Alessandra, injured Feeney and old Dickov, bagging the goals for us. I hope I'm eating my words but I just don't see it. Another relegation struggle and another season of us barely hitting the net. I was annoyed at us letting Hughes go, but he was a knob by all account. When I first saw Abbott I realised we had signed our best target man since Porter, one who was also technically better and I would have loved to see Hughes + Abbott up front. Abbott's not a knob, he would have signed a new deal if we offered it to him and we would have retained one of the best target men in L1. I could understand if Charlton bullied us for him, like put in a 200k+ bid for him we couldn't refuse, but less than 100k+? Whoever values our players needs firing. Like I said, there's a reason Charlton want to sign him, they are a bigger club who will likely finish in the playoffs. And for people to say he isn't good enough to play for us is deluded. Not a rant at you mate, I'm just gutted that our club can be so short sighted.

As I said before, Clavin Zola went to Crewe for 200k. Abbott to Chalrton is at least worth the same amount, not 10 times less. It's a disgrace. Can't believe we are relying on Brooke, Alessandra and old Dickhead to score our goals. Abbott + Feeney = Optimism. Without Abbott's hold up play we are screwed. Don't play Eaves tomorrow Dickhead, please we can't risk him playing well and receiving an offer we can't turn down. Eaves might have the ability to step into Abbott's shoes. I just doubt he'll be here for much longer. Damn. We had one of the best target men in the division and we let him walk. I hope we were smart enough to smack a 25% sell on him because a fit Abbott in a Charlton team is capable of 15+ goals and a shed load of assists and interest from Championship clubs.

It is Tommy boy, it is. He is one of the best target men in this division and if people think 37 year old Dickov is gonna come up trumps for us they are sorely mistaken. Well and truly gutted. Love Abbott, hate Dickov.
