Very - would mean that we could be better off in the short term, if the usual suspects yo-yo between the Prem and the Championship. Of course, when we get to the Championship (ahem) the extra money wouldn't help when compared to the money the relegated teams are getting, but it sweetens the deal a little.

Is it the same deal as before, where parachute payments due to teams who promote back to the Prem are split between the teams in the FL?

Oh you cynic! FWIW the club can't win on this - if they say nothing they get blasted for not keeping the fans informed. If they do say something, they're blasted for wasting our time. Same old Oldham fans, always moaning.

Look at our current squad Dave: Lomax, Black, Taylor, Smalley, Eaves, Brooke, Millar all came through our youth system. I wasn't saying that the youth lads would be good enough to fire us to promotion - just that we're not likely to be spending mega-bucks on squad members, so the youths would have to fill the gaps.

Whoever the new gaffer is, they're not going to have a huge budget, so any changes to the current squad will likely be free transfers/loans supplemented by youngsters making the step up. With that in mind, the key for me is getting someone in who can work with Tony P in getting our youth system producing quality products who we then sell for fat juicy fees. That's the only way the club is going to survive long term until we have a new stadium which can generate extra much-needed revenue. If, by some miracle, we do get promoted in the short-term, we're hardly in a position to be able to sit and consolidate in the championship, so for me it's primarily about getting a solid foundation in place, allowing us to build for success in the future, ideally in a shiny new ground.
