  1. I know there's a lot of history in the two clubs' relationship, but it's a shame we don't see more cooperation between them. Not only in ground sharing, but once you do share a ground you could promote other things. Maybe double header tickets for when both are at home, that kind of thing.

I don't know, it's just a shame the town's only two serious sporting entities can't help each other.

  2. If we're pissing ourselves at it I can't see why players and Directors wouldn't

I'd contend that we all use phrases at work that, when taken out of immediate context, sound absolutely ridiculous.

It's not meant to be a fine work of prose, it's a catchy snippet that is supposed to be easily remembered and referred to.

No matter how hilarious you may find it, we all had at least a decent idea of what it meant.

  3. Maybe I listened to too many Lee Johnson interviews, but the zone stuff makes sense to me. A lot of it harks back to bits and pieces he mentioned, especially early in his tenure. A lot of the language used may be cringeworthy, but it lets players know what they should be doing at any time. Not having that it's too complicated, all it takes is a one-to-one chat for any issues to be explained.

Exactly. I think a lot of the odd phrases are just ways to refer to concepts we're all familiar with but are maybe a bit clunky to verbalise. "Corridor of confusion" is a lot easier said than "that channel about six yards out where defenders and goalkeepers tend to get a bit unsure of their individual responsibilities".

  4. I am not sure how much Mourinho would do. The sports science bits, yes. To be honest I dont knock those, but the named zones on a pitch and brain storms are :censored:. It is just sales aimed at businessmen who like that kind of crap.

Named zones, POMO and all that go back to Charles Reep and Charles Hughes in the '50s I believe. Not a new phenomenon, whether it's baloney or not!

  5. Can you imagine Brian Clough doing that? Or Ferguson?

No, but they started their managerial careers in the '60s and '70s respectively, with the most recently retired doing so two years ago at the age of 71. They were different generations.

However I can imagine Mourinho, Benitez, Monk and other well respected present day managers (or at least their teams) doing it.

The skill is in getting your ideas across to your players successfully.

  6. Brendan Rodgers is keen for the youngster to get some valuable first-team experience and Oldham could offer him it down in League 1. He’s highly rated at Anfield, with many believing he has massive potential – hence why the Reds aren’t planning on letting him leave permanently.

But, with the right-back’s first-team chances limited for Liverpool at the moment, they are keen to send him out to a club that can play him regularly. Oldham are keen on him and not only that but they are also managed by Darren Kelly, who is a firm friend of talks a bit like Reds gaffer Brendan Rodgers.
