There's a lot of sense in what you say there. It's worth pointing out though that we've never seen Xavi or Iniesta out of their comfort zone in a sub-par team. They've both always had the same class players around them.
This post reflects our season very well really. The first two thirds had some real high points, but by the final third we were really scratching around for something to cling to.
I'm fairly confident that despite the club's ineptitude in so many ways they will have carried out some market research on the subject and have made a reasonable prediction based on that research, rather than Jenny deciding by consulting a tarot.
Well I never. Maybe there's a possibility they could get the old band back together then...
"I'll see you at Oldham Baths at 5am sharp young Carl. Bring your boxing gloves."
John Harbin was the main man behind that. I don't know what he's upto these days but they were a brilliant team. I think he returned to Australia to work in rugby league last I heard.
"I remember sitting through those great years under Dean Holden in The Rocky Road End, I can't believe they're shifting us into the away end."
Maybe not.
I'd always thought the final was played much later than usual so I had a look. The 1990 League Cup final was on 29th April. The '89 final was on 9th April, the '88 final on the 24th April and the '87 final on 5th April.
So if anything it was played later than the previous finals but not by much. It looks tremendously late compared to this year's 1st March final though.
Oh what might have been...
I have a source close to Delroy's defence team and he has let me know on the quiet that they will be utilizing the rarely-used but highly effective "No, I Really Am That :censored:" defence.
