  1. !!!!!ANY REFERENCE TO THE PLAYERS TAKING SOME RESPONSIBILITY!!!!!
  2. Montano has shown the ability to take on any defender, pressure the full backs to regain pocession and most important deliver a quality ball into the danger zone! Taylor gave his all....Montano has a more nature ability! Glad he is on board with the Latics
  3. Never nice to see one of our guys get a knock or pull..........However, Tarky took his opportunity when called up and grew more and more dominant as the game went on! Great goal as well Tarky!
  4. Don't know how the inner Latics management are operating.... but what are your thoughts on promoting: £££££ player scoring bonus £££££ Yes or No?
  5. Me and my girl will be there! Team spirit starts with belief.......belief starts with the fans!!! **COME ON OLDHAM**
  6. Fans prediction for the Oldham vs Coventry game 29.09.12
  7. 1-1 written all over it! New Coventry boss + players fighting for new manager attention = tough nut to crack. COME ON LATICS break the cycle...............do us proud!
  8. Why there is no question raised or answers sought WHATSOEVER towards the role and responsibility of Mr Taggart is troubling? Dickov has appointed Taggart as his assistant manager granted, Lee Duxbury appears to be juggling a role as 1st team coach AND reserve team manager…..What is Taggart assisting? An assistant managers role is a complex and challenging one. He's got to be the manager's right-hand man, and yet he's got to be the players' trusted confidante. Players would probably agree the assistant's role is to form the bridge between the team and the manager. The assistant manager is the footballer's footballer, someone to look up to, who's done it all before. He is a man who can relate to the team, who can play good cop to the manager's bad cop, and smooth out any disagreements. On a Monday morning, when there are a bunch of aggrieved players on the training pitch, an assistant's job is to keep everybody happy and be compassionate. Is this Gerry Taggart…………? Maybe Dickov has made a novice choice here that could cost him his role as manager?.
  9. Let's not forget a very important part of this new and improved squad on show...................PD! He clearly has the right vision, although knitting together a bunch of players is the work of time as well as management structure. I was present at the game Vs Scunthorpe and the team effort was very good, the frustrating part of watching any Oldham game is: 1. What we do 'under pressure' with the ball at the 18yard box. 2. Decisions given from the ref that determine the games outcome that we have to swallow....a recent example vs Scunthorpe but the list could go on. I believe Dickov feels the same frustration as we all do and see's clearly the potential right there in front of him. For me, time is now to really work on 'decision making' and 'finishing' under pressure Mr Dickov.
  10. Granted people, its more of a chant than a song but ya know what I mean
  11. Continuing from the recent posts 'Ultra', 'Atmosphere' and 'Singing @ BP can we get some lyrical clarity on Latics songs PAST and PRESENT: 1. Song title 2. Song Lyrics I will start.... 1. COME ON OLDHAM 2. COME ON OLDHAM! Textbookdave
  12. Stick a bell in it as well, give Kuqi a chance.... oooooooooooo I hear you say
  13. Bournemouth Manager Quote about tonights game: "I'd love to beat the club record of 13 away matches unbeaten (currently 11 unbeaten) but I'll talk about it if and when we do it. I just want us to win games". They will be up for letting Chesterfield know who they are! Just a taster for when we get em at BP
  14. My best football atmosphere experience was River Plate FC (Argentina), They are famous for the 'Twelfth man' approach! 90 minutes of singing, drums, trumpets and megaphones! Scarves by the thousands and flags by the hundreds. I noticed a big gap in the middle of the stand behind the goal and my Argentinean friend said watch.... 5 minutes before kickoff the 'Ultra' made their entrance WOW WOW WOW! It just did not stop from that point. Keep it simple: 1x BIG drum As many Tambourines as possible Everyone own a scarf and display it above the head when singing Get the young ones waving the flags 1x song every 5 mins with a 5 min breather for some 'COME ON OLDHAM shout' LETS GO GO GO !!!!

  16. I have noticed our core singing fans and the man with the drum are now situated in the Rochdale End of the ground at home games and not the Chaddy end? WHY WHY WHY? Possible thoughts so far: 1. Singing and standing may cause a nuisance 2. Bad language around families and kids 3. Just want to piss off the away fans? 4. Any other reason? TEXTBOOKDAVE
  17. This is funny! I ran an ameuter Lacrosee team using text to keep a grip of the squad and avoid last minute 'no shows'. Can't see this getting any serious attention from the players at a pro football level tho? What next TXT: Please let me know if you can make training? TXT: today were working on communication
  18. Will be there in the chaddy end today! My prediction is Oldham 2 Exeter 1
  19. Smith for Parker up front starting 11, he was instrumental first half away at Chesterfield (in the league game 1-1). Parker on as sub for Morais after 60mins for energy levels. Agree with your ball to feet strategy, definately Oldhams strength! Kuqi is soooo predictable and the team become static upfront. COME ON LATICS!!!!! I will be there today : ))
  20. Dickov, show this the boys on the coach! PLEASE GET OFF THE PITCH! Classic public announcement ha ha ha
  21. Diamond is a slow starter which worries me in the games early stage (and poor communication with Cisak), post 15mins he will be fine! It will be the M'Voto show tonight as set pieces will be key for us scoring? Also think Simpson will be perfectly placed to show what he can do. COME ON LATICS ! ! !
  22. WOW.... No feedback/discussion or critisism??? Is the report too long
  23. This report really highlights some of the re-occurring fundamentals that have been visible in the recent games against Hartlepool and Notts County as well as Chesterfield and is open for discussion. The game vs Chesterfield on the whole was great to watch as an Oldham fan and very frustrating at the same time. Latics controlled the play well in the first half and the goal conceded early on was the result of the fundamental slow start at the back especially the communication between CB’s and the goalkeeper’s leadership or questionable lack off? Cisak still looks too apprehensive with the defence (mainly the centre backs)? I know the team is quite young but goalkeepers are the last line of D, Cisak is the eyes of his defence minimising silly ball watching syndrome. Cisak needs to take grip of his defence and we should be hearing him from the stands a lot more, allowing the defenders to get into shape quicker and not getting caught out time and time again, especially early doors. With Parker, Scapuzzi and Kuqi starting the game on the bench it was interesting to see the 4-4-1-1 formation Dickov is clearly working with. The play looked more fluid with Taylor right wing supported by Lee and Black offering support on the left to Morais. Furman’s work in the middle caused plenty of unwanted pressure and Chesterfield resulted in long ball play at best. The jury is still out on this style of play as ideas appear to run out once we are 20yards out from goal? The full backs appear to clash space with our wingers and play is forced into the centre, ultimately followed by a lofted ball to the penalty spot. Are the wingers playing too low or are the full backs not confident to overlap? The ball was and is constantly played in from the left/right midfield into the penalty area where the strikers back is against goal? The formation is designed to promote crosses into the box where players like Kuqi/Smith can attack the ball, flick it on, control the ball in the box or cause defensive errors under pressure. Of which Morais delivered and Smith finished very well drawing level 1-1 at half time. The second half started with Chesterfiled pressing hard and looking for a quick reply, the Latics did well to gain control of the game 10mins and we returned to dominate play. Simpson was outstanding and looked a cut above everything else on the pitch, his signing will pay dividends! Kuqi is a talent and may offer a lot off the pitch to the lads however, I do see everything going through him and up until his arrival after 65mins vs Chesterfield, the Latics did not seem to miss him whatsoever. It was great to see the team playing football and the ball remaining on the deck for a number of passes, good patience. Once Kuqi arrived in play after 65mins we looked 2D and predictable attacking the goal. More off ball movement was desperately required. Taylor, Simpson and Scapuzzi showed great off the ball movement and space awareness. However, they were not all on the pitch at the same time? The winner simply did not come our way. Match officials were once again on another planet….Seriously! Although as a team we really need to have more aggressive finishing strategies and put games like Chesterfield to bed. Let’s not rely on decisions from officials who shy away from responsibility. I enjoy seeing Dickov on the touchline; his presence is felt by the players fair to say. However, it is difficult to really see your teams shape in all aspects of the game from ground level. Dickov, please spend a game (soon) in the stands with your men on the touchline awaiting direction and see the obvious? We are not that far away of being a dangerous team and I look forward to the forthcoming game Vs Liverpool. Good Luck Latics……Enjoy the big show!
  24. After a painful viewing vs Hartlepool, I am braving todays challenge Vs Notts County! COME ON LATICS : ))
