I was also thinking along these lines......IF...A big name manager is lined up, then this would be a big motivator for the current squad to prove themselves.

I'm sure the new manager IF one as already been tied up will be watching and the players will have been told.

IF we can keep hold of the 5 or 6 quality players we have in the squad and add a few to them in the summer.....The impetus a new manager and the new stand will bring then maybe just maybe next year will be our year (I know ...............I've been a Latics faithful for too long to give up hope now)

Normally, TV appearances are something like £500-£1,000 per time. Obivously more if you are an anchor or main commentator. I can't see Dowie being a pundit they would give a contract too, knowledgeable as he is. I would think he would be on appearance money. Factor in his travelling costs and he won't be on mega bucks I'd stake a fair sum on.

 

Here are some appearance fees, granted from a little while ago, but it gives an indication of the fees paid. The number of footballers avaiallbe for punditry would be massive so a supplier's market

He wasn't at his best passing today, probably rusty after a month out, but the way he put himself about, tackled and led by example was rousing to see. His reaction after their equaliser made me believe we'll be back to what we were before, now he's back. What a man.

Someone needs to do some 'dew diligence' on Barry Owen, to see if he really is that 'wet behind the ears', to think that dragging our clubs name through this dirt again is a good thing.

Maybes, but from what I've seen of his goals and games on you tube (from when I was looking to see what type of player we had signed). It didn't appear to me that he was a back to goal type player.........time will tell, my main point was you couldn't judge him off that one appearance, where we was under the cosh for long periods and he was totally isolated for most of the time.

Being the 1 up top is never going to be Murphy's best role, the lad was thrown in at the deep end and managed to tread water , judging him on this performance is just wrong.

As good as Swindon were the two best football moves came from Oldham our first goal and Forte's 'offside' goal were simply tremendous!

I must confess to being utterly bemused by the whole episode. I suppose if I hadn't been daydreaming and had halted to inquire as to what was vexing him so much or told him to Foxtrot Oscar the next stop in his Fashion Police tyranny would have involved some kind of physical altercation. *Over the coat I was wearing*.
