  1. Some more decent stuff played again today.

We gifted them a goal - a poor one to ship too; Route One ball up field and it shouldnt really have been allowed, a big gap between J Wilson and Dieng. Whilst we doing Ok; we are missing Big George or Lockwood for their influence and organisation.

    But, loads of positives:

Mills is now officially back (!) we've got the loan version back again instead of poor early season version.

B Wilson is Mr Consistency at RB and looks a cracking piece of transfer business.

Mike Jones and Liam Kelly have formed a really effective partnership; and when Jones went out wide, he looked equally good too. Winchester also played well, dovetailing between wide and central.

Danny Philliskirk is also back, similar to Mills, we're now seeing the first class version and not the out of sorts and low on confidence version. His link play, his pressing and his overall game we're spot on today, a close runner for my MOTM.

Pleased Connor Wilkinson signed off with a goal; he's got better and better as he's played, and i'd like us to explore the possibility of re-signing him again come January.

A good win, and the unbeaten run continues. The feel-good factor starting to really kick on, and the side looks a completely different proposition to the one that started the season. LJ, TW & their team do need a huge amount praise for turning it around, the tactics are really starting to reap rewards.

    Long may it continue

Found myself nodding in agreement with this :)

  2. Thought Tidser was a revelation last night ,made a big mistake early on with a wayward pass, recovered possession and never looked back.

If impressing and taking your chance in the team means anything, He couldn't have done much more.

There was 5 or 6 stand out performances for me last night , being-

    Tidser (MoM)

J Wilson (Best player at BP in a long time)

B Wilson (Really growing in the team)

    M Jones (Another solid performance)

T Dieng (Looks a real footballer)

J Mills (Best performance by him this season)

As for Wilkinson I'm not sure I think I would prefer one of our own players given the game time.

  3.

There was a pile of bodies at the top of Sheepfoot Lane with Jordan Bove standing in the middle of it swinging a severed arm round his head singing 'I'm a bastard....'

    ^^^^^^^^^From the the Ointment thread

After scoring, the adrenaline-fueled Bove followed a through ball which the keeper safely gathered, only to be grabbed by the arm and spun round by Bove, apparently trying to get the ref to make a note of his name. The keeper might have made more of it if he hadn't been intent on getting on with the game, trying to help towards an equaliser.

Explains where he got the arm from then :)

  4. Had a great view from behind the goal. Winchester cut into the penalty area, along the by-line from the Main Stand side, and hit a low cross, which the keeper dived out to push it towards the penalty spot. In a crowded penalty area, the floodlight shone on Bove's spectacular sun tan, his eyes lit up and he smashed it high into the roof of the net.

His celebration was captured by Alan Howarth:

That picture was taken just before he turned green and needed a replacement shirt.

  5. We are creating plenty of chances even with key players not firing on all cylinders yet. If and when the team gels we will create even more. But can we create enough to find JCH's ratio of goals to chances?

IMO. JCH is not far away from being our 20 goal striker, he gets in the right positions at the right time and really should have had at least 3 goals from tap ins this season even allowing for missing 1 in 3 chances.

Being in the right place at the right time is something you can not teach it is instinct.

The thing JCH lacks is composure in front of goal, can this be taught? I'm not sure if it can, is it a quality which comes with experience? or is it something you either have or don't have?

If someone can answer those questions we will know whether he is worth persisting with.
