  1. I still have my vids of 89/90, 90/91 and 92/93 - though cant believe I chucked all my home recorded stuff covering most of the 90's - so these threads are heaven sent. We could do with a proper OWTB web site link to each of these seasons/matches you are posting. I've probably requested too many...but how about at some point.. (inc a couple of long shots) 7-1 Demolition of Torquay 91/92? Remember Henry playing out of his skin. 3-0 hammering of Chelsea August '91 + David "Chicken" Currie at Old Trafford ? Any Ango-Italian Cup action 95/95 ?
  2. Great vids but whats with dvd's The Great Escape theme, IIRC we were never really in relegation trouble that season and only lost about a dozen games. Yes we had financial problems/staff upheaval and a firesale, but on the pitch we were solid enough. Unlike the season after.....
  3. Game before that we beat Derby Co 1-0 at BP, seem to recall there was a huge refereeing controversy for our winning Goal. Details escape me but could be a quickly taken free kick inside the box?
  4. 1 Games called off in winter for conditions OUTSIDE the ground. 2 Teams kicking the ball out when not a head injury. 3 Andy Townsend 4 Clubs from smaller towns being criticised for their attendances, erm do the maths. 5 Tourists at PL matches, put your bleeding cameras away.
  5. .... thanks for these great vids, never throw these tapes away as you'll figure how to convert them properly onto DVD/PC rather than filming your telly. Some others i'd love to see again... David Currie v Notts County 1990 - League Cup Graeme Sharp v Arsenal 1993/4 - Highbury Ricky Holden v Villa 1993/94 - Villa Park Lee Richardson v Charlton 1994/95 - BP Paul Bernard v Bolton 1994/95 - Burnden, live tv match Barlow hat trick v Bradford 96/97 - Valley Parade Ormondroyd stunning header v Wolves, Molineux 96/97 Beavers v Stoke BP 1999 Survival v Reading, May 1999 You did say you had all summer..... :-)
  6. Some crackers, I havent seen for nearly 2 decades... Marshall v Everton, Goodison 1990 Marshall v Notts C, BP 1992 Beckford v Bolton, Burnden QF 1994 Beresford v Wolves, Molineux 1995 Any will do? Cheers.
  7. Corrazins goal in the last minute of that game. 20 yard cracker and I recall me being in the footage as I was leaving behind the goal.
  8. Fantastic. My first ever away day win was at Reading in the cup, same season 3-1? Is this in your archive?
  9. We'd have been better off sticking an outfield player in goal, Langley - what a 'thug'..... Thanks for all these vids of a rare good season.
  10. Sean McCarthy's last minute winner at Stoke 94/95, when the goalkeeper mis-kicked his clearance..... twice. Was a Granada live match.. Cheers
  11. A 'goal' that could have easily cut Fergies reign to 3 1/2 years instead of 27. And saved us from all the gushing praise being spouted all day today.
  12. Keigan Parker ripped us apart in the 07 play-offs, so my expectations were raised when he signed - he was turd and a massive let down.
  13. I cant believe there isnt something in the rulebook the ref could interpret to prevent this. The comments of 'the ball is in play' doesnt wash with me. Could the 22 players have just sat down in the centre circle holding hands singing kum-by-yah worshipping the ball, if that is the case?
  14. Sad story for ex Latics man, utter thuggery. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2317581/Mansfield-defender-John-Thompson-retires-mental-scars-years-injured-Gary-Ricketts.html
  15. He didnt trouble the scoreboard operators that often, 1 goal in 4 years ! One of his rare excellent displays was in our win at Maine Road in 99.
  16. As they were products of the youth team, I dont think you can class them as a "let down" unless they were tipped at the outset for greatness ? A let down for this thread is someone who promised greatly (be it form/experience at previous club or £fee paid), but faded into the wallpaper as soon as they turned up at Boundary Park.
  17. 10 League goals in nearly 70 wasnt good enough. When he signed on loan initially in Oct 94 he looked a world beater especially against Arsenal in the League Cup. Once signed up, he rarely rose above mediocre (Stuart 'Deirdre' Barlow was much more effective) but did at least net the winner against City in Dec 96.
  18. Ok we've had posts for best XI and worst players full stop. How about those that whilst not entirely bad, fell way short of our expectations from when they signed. Here goes.. GK - Chris Day DF - Michael Clegg DF - Tore Pedersen DF - Peter Skipper DF - Glen Keeley MF - Toddy Orlygsson MF - Neil McDonald MF - Paul Kane ST - Alan Smart ST - Keigan Parker ST - Nicky Banger Sub 1 - Paul Moulden Sub 2 - Craig Davies ...any more ?
  19. Not a striker - but a pacey, clever and tricky winger is Jimmy Ryan. 24 y/o and just relegated with Scunthorpe and nearly out of contract. Saw him at Accy Stanley a few times between 2009 and 2011 and was a class apart from his team mates that reached the L2 play offs.
