    In one of my first couple of matches as a very young kid in the early 80s, I'm convinced a helicopter landed on the pitch to deliver the match ball for kick off. Am i going mad or did it happen, no one i've asked in person knows anything... This was well before Chris Moore's chopper !

    Recall thinking Innes was potentially world class for about two games when we survived the drop in 99. Smith will do a good job in the Championship next season in any team that creates genuine chances and puts in quality from out wide.

    I'm sure Crystal Palace fans were feeling pretty smug 8 pts clear of us in 1993 with Latics facing 3 final tough fixtures. Strange things happen, lets do the business against Crawley and then think about our summer hols.

    Last time I went on the BP pitch was after the Roger Palmer Testimonial in 1991, the last match on the plastic. So of course, I ripped up a bit of the pitch to take home with me.

    I hope we still have slo-mo tv replays level with the goalline, so we can see for ourselves generally how accurate the technology call was. I'm never quite convinced in Tennis with the computer graphic, as we never get any kind of TV replay to support it.
