  1. I rate Furman but can a club like ours afford to see the captain jet off for international breaks? I know we get some money back but it's continuity & consistency that suffers so I think Furman moving on is best for club and player. I wouldn't begrudge Mvoto going. Seems he turned offers down in the belief that we'd challenge but we haven't. I wouldn't care if Simpson left. He has real ability but plays in the same role as Baxter & I'd rather have Jose. I'm not worried about next year. Lots of players out of contract. Would like to see Smith giving 2more years.
  2. I know he's hardly world class and takes pens but 10goals from midfield is close to the number scored by Croft, Wes, Furman & Montano combined. He's not that bad either!
  3. Matt Richie Paddy Madden Steven Schumacher- I know he plays for Bury but I've got a respect for any player who scores so many from midfield and captains a side going through so much trouble.
  4. He's my Player of Year so far. We've needed a solid left back for years.
  5. Just had a look on LMA website at available managers drop-down. Makes you realise how many would be applying but how poor some of them would be.
  6. Could see someone like Steve Cotterill coming out of the woodwork. He's coaching at QPR and probably on more money as a coach than he would get as our manager but someone of his ilk. So many managers out of work but it will probably end up being Phil Brown!
  7. Chris_ktf No one would blame him if it went belly up? Just have a look on here at the posts from the first half against Stevenage. It turns out there are a lot who would blame him. I do really want him to stay but from TPs point of view is worth risking his job for life with the youth to find himself unemployed when we do eventually sack him as manager? Wonder if Les the physio regrets taking over Tranmere?
  8. Totally agree with Sly. Every fan should do it so it's clear to anyone on the planning panel. Well done Simon Corney.
  9. This thread is part of the problem at Boundary Park. We have an international player captaining our side taking home a modest wage and people complain. Can't possibly understand why such a player would lack the confidence to perform as he has shown he can for South Africa. Oh,wait...
  10. adrianpshaw I couldnt agree more. Whatever happens, TPs role with youth should be guaranteed. His work with youth has made the club more money than any manager (since Dowie) has done through wheeling & dealing. Can't afford to lose him
  11. Seems Winchester was injured too. We all need to give that lad a chance. He has ability as seen with his performance against Liverpool. He's not the finished article but it looks like TP isn't often wrong. Maybe another one de-motivated by lack of chances under Dickov
  12. Was a bit worried when I heard team news but Tony P TRUSTS players in the squad! Always the thing that annoyed me about Dickov; asking Corney to give contracts to players then never giving them a chance. Now all players know they have to earn the shirt. A few dodgy kicks from Bouzanis on Saturday and he's out. Tony doesn't do favourites
  13. Great result! Corney on radio Manc tonight saying no need to rush while TP doing such a good job. Seems Byrne&Murray very much involved & Paul Gerrard got lots of credit. Hope TP is happy to continue. If he can guide us out of trouble it gives the club chance to look longer term in the Summer. Just don't want TP leaving our club as a sacked manager or assistant manager. Any contract he signs should guarantee his youth job back if it goes wrong
  14. Sadly, jimsleftfoot, you're probably right. But there are some decent people there who still hold some sway. It's peanuts to them.
  15. At any point that we could still end up in the same division as Barnet! Take the cash and give it a good go with the quality strikers that we have rather than rush two lads back who are not as good, but who we might need later.
  16. Have we all forgotten the league table. Risking a recurrence of injury to Smith&Simpson would be daft. Iwelumo & Barnard not played loads recently so expect muscle injuries when Tuesday-Saturday fixtures kick in. Everton game is a bonus but avoiding relegation is the priority
  17. Not necessarily. I used to work at LFC while I was at uni and they did this sort of thing all the time. They also wrote off big installations of transfer fees when the club involved were relegated or players suffered long term injury. You'd be surprised.
  18. I think he's worth a deal til end of 13/14 season at least. If we stay up, I think we'd make progress under him next year. If we go down, he'd be exactly the type of manager I'd want to get us back up. It's going to be tricky to convince our loanees and players whose contracts are up in July to be committed in our must win games in April if he's not the man in charge. Look at Rafa. If you're interim, players care less. Fact
  19. Did Alan Knill nearly get done in by a squirrel?
  20. It's pretty simple for me. We signed a good young player in Brown then signed a replacement for him before he'd played much. When need to free up wages for another area of the team (though I bet we didnt pay much of Wabara's wage) and Brown is OUR player. Brown hasn't done much wrong when he has played. Get him in
  21. This is the problem with keeping Dickov. If we lose on Saturday he will be sacked anyway so would it have been better to get a new man in who could've made his own signings?
