  1. A Liverpool supporting mate at the game was impressed with Mellor. He's seen a few Prem defenders struggle with Sterling so think Mellor deserves credit.
  2. Wouldn't have begrudged the lad a move anywhere. Could've pulled out of Sheffield & Cov games with an 'injury' to protect his chances of moving elsewhere, but was committed & I'm happy to see him move up a division. Seemed a good bloke & glad he's not signed for a League 1 rival.
  3. Totally agree with Hallam Blue. Good to see our own lads play & no point upsetting them for a lad who would only be here for half a season. I thought he looked talented but he's not what we need & I'd like to see the lads with 2year contracts start to play and win together. Think Rusnak may have been a smokescreen after Jose left. If we'd lost the best attacking player in the league and replaced him with cover at RB, CB and GK it wouldn't have gone down well. I wouldn't expect us to get anyone in. We've got a good squad
  4. It was bloody stupid and LJ should fine him. But, he's really screwed himself more than anyone. By the time he plays again Wes might have cemented his place or Rodgers get above him in the pecking order. Actually looked better with 10men & Wes. He cost us today but has a manager who showed today that he will drop Wes if he messes up so he's got every chance of redeeming himself.
  5. Bit disappointed that he didn't get a move to the Championship but can't begrudge a player who re-signed for us in January when he knew we were going nowhere & made sure he repaid the clubs faith with a transfer fee. Fee won't be close to what he's worth but he was a free when we got him & gave us some great memories. Good luck Jose!
  6. Really pleased to see so many young lads get experience of competitive games. Reserves must be varying degrees of competition but the lads will all come back better for the experience and we might need one or two of them if we get injuries and suspensions. Well done LJ.
  7. I think it was agreed for this year. Not sure how punishment would be dished out. Could be retrospective like sometimes happens in rugby league, but it would be interesting to see what happens if a team got promoted & then they found out the they were over the 60%. Am sure someone on here would have the answer
  8. We re due some cash for the Preston game being on sky so maybe some extra income can be spent as & when it comes in. Eg. Player sales/loans, cup runs or additional sponsorship.
  9. To the tune of 2Unlimited 'No limits': Tarky, Tarky, Tarky Tarky, Tarky Tarky, JAMES TAR-KOW-SKI Could be followed by: Weso, Weso, Weso, Weso, Weso Weso, WES-O-LOW-SKI
  10. Anyway...I'd be happy to see us sign someone with Rachubka's experience to be used as back up or a number 2. Would imagine he's one of many who are now scrambling around for any sort of wages to stay in the football league & a helpful voice around The Ox
  11. Either way this tells Cliff Byrne everything he needs to know about the likelihood of him playing if we re switching Grounds to CB ahead of him.
  12. Sky Sports News reporting it. Seems a strange one. Would've liked to have seen someone of his ilk but I suppose it might have been dependent on Cliff leaving.
  13. I'm not having a pop at Mellor but it was noticeable that when Cliff came on we settled things down, did the basics for 5mins then got back into the game. I'd suggest we wouldn't contribute much towards a loan players wages so there's not much benefit in losing Cliff if we don't have to lose his wage. Could be an asset to a young side.
  14. I like the fact that he's a bit mental. A team full of nice guys won't achieve much. He unsettled 2 experienced CBs yesterday & it was funny watching him wind up Hudds keepers at half time. Nice to have options on strikers that belong to us.
  15. Wow! We criticise our top player based on no knowledge of his performance in a range of fitness tests and some doctored photos. Well done. No wonder we attract top players and see our youth players flourish due to the support of fans. Oh, wait...
  16. Enjoyed tonight. Good to see wingers who will take their full back on & cross. Dayton looks like he can play either side & Sidney is a clever player. Brown and Tarky look good too. We do look a small side so hope Oxley is commanding. Looks a big enough lads to do it.
  17. He's not half as bad as some would have you believe but we've got Baxter to play off a front man so don't need Simpson. I've said it before but any number 10 type will struggle without pace around them. Simpson was good on loan cos he had Evina, White, Morais, Taylor with decent pace AND he got a lot of assists from set pieces. Wasn't as effective when paired with Shefki who didn't have pace to stretch defences so defences pushed up, condensed play & we didn't score. Put him in a team full of pace & Simpson will do well.
  18. Well I for one wouldn't have expected a conversation about the Connor Brown to have ended in a discussion about economics! God bless OWTB!
  19. Read something in When Saturday Comes about how amongst the many problems that Bury had, one big problem was a home game vs Sheffield Utd being moved. They'd factored 2000 Travelling but got 500 for the rearranged fixture. Makes you think how tight budgets can be stretched by bad luck fixtures wise. Think about the difference having Wolves at home 1st Saturday of the season followed by Sheffield Utd in next home game & PNE a week or two after that. A tough start but worth a lot more in gate receipts.
  20. John Sheridan's knee. He could play fine without it so at least it would be looked after.
  21. He had S Africa matches to play & was due a suspension. Wouldn't have played many games so the club sorted a more useful alternative in Smith. Furman got a good move. We got a player who would be available for more games & who our new manager could trust. Sounds like everyone is a winner. If we got a fee too, even better!
  22. Well put Hands On. Why not back the manager & back the lads? None of us will change who we support so why not have a positive outlook & enjoy watching a team who I think will have a bit more passion than last season? The players & manager will make honest mistakes & I'm never happy to have paid to watch us lose, but I think this team will only gain the confidence to perform well if they're not constantly scrutinised. (Climbs off soapbox)
  23. Basically none of us really know! A third of that time has been signing players that we're unsure of and us fans hoping they work out well. LJ deserves a lot of credit for, in the end, comfortably saving us from relegation & addressing flaws in the team that seemed fairly obvious to most fans. He'll make mistakes, some signings will be great & some not so good but I'm looking forward to seeing a quick team that will have a go. With the budget we've got, mid-table would be success so lets back the lads & the gaffer. With such little experience around the club we will see some bad mistakes but also energy, enthusiasm & drive. Cheer up everyone!
