  1. He does need to put some muscle on but we should keep him. I'd love to see him develop a more confident attitude. At times he can look devastated by a bollocking off senior players but I'd like to see him back himself & shrug it off. Bags of ability on the ball
  2. We're a fickle bunch. When he was banging them in during the Cup running we all loved him, but now? I'm not thrilled that he's ditching us at the end of the year but if he lacks ability like a few in here are saying then we won't miss him & I can't blame a lad for getting a big contract elsewhere. Everyone is a winner, so just back a lad who gives his best in a Latics shirt.
  3. Simple 4-4-2. Bouzanis : Grounds, Mvoto, Tarky, Brown: Croft, Korey Smith, Wes, Montano: Barnard, Matt Smith. Will be a dry bobbly pitch so fancy a set piece goal. Mvoto, Tarky or Smith. Real shame about Baxter but got to have a go
  4. I'm sure that LJ is the man for the job and I hope to God that he steers us clear of relegation. However, although the players have let the club and themselves down time and time again, let's not forget that Dickov should've been sacked at least a month before the Liverpool game & a replacement found with enough time to make a serious impact in the transfer market. The inertia of December-January was enough to convince me that we'd be in a relegation battle and here we are. Please don't let that happen to our club again Barry.
  5. Thanks guys. I'll grab my ticket this week.
  6. Anyone got any ideas on how or when Bury tickets are available. I don't have a season ticket so not sure how to get tickets.
  7. I'd like to keep: Bouzanis (happy with either keeper but we can get a fee for Cisak if we take up option on extending his contract) Brown Tarky Byrne (good cover & experience) Mvoto (but he'll get better offers & must regret turning clubs down last year) Grounds Montano Baxter (must have a clause if relegated) I'd have a serious rethink about midfield. Need more goals from midfield. I love Crofts work ethic but full backs know he'll never take them on. I'd also think about how many young lads we keep on. Millar & Mellor did well yesterday & Winchester was great against Liverpool but we've had 3 managers & lots of coaches who didn't feel they could trust them. Id like to see them given a chance but it's tricky to pitch them into a relegation scrap.
  8. First match that I've been to under LJ and can honestly say its the most excited I've been about watching Latics in ages. Even including cup games! It's a big match and would be a massive three points. I'm with JoeP too. Under Dickov, losing a goal meant a probable 1-0 loss but under LJ there seems to be a likelihood of getting back into the game so please no booing of our own players. Come on Oldham!
  9. Surely cost is a big factor. Asian families tend to be larger families so taking children and dad is a pricey day out compared to a Sky Sports monthly fee. I'd hope there is no fear of racism but think its much more likely to be a financial issue that's linked to a lack of recent success
  10. Could this be a clue that Wes was one of those LJ was getting at when he talked about players lacking fitness? Seems like he ll provide good options across midfield either way
  11. Spot on NewBlue! Don't want ANY manager booed before we've seen his team play. We're not Chelsea fans. Have a bit of class. No-one improves when fans boo them.
  12. Thought he would be just the type of player we'd look to keep next year...Can play a across all midfield positions reasonably well & always seemed wages were low. Maybe he's moving back towards home.
  13. He hasn't been at his best for us but what happens if any one of Wes's injuries suddenly occur & he's out for the season? Centre mid is a pivotal role to not have back up.
  14. I'll only stop supporting Corney when someone with deeper pockets AND the clubs interests at heart. He's used his own money to fund under-achieving players but is held back by what % of turnover he can spend on players. With an average attendance of 4000 what more can he do without breaking rules? He talks sense, backs managers & keeps spending his money on the club despite knowing he'll see little if any of it back. I've never been more depressed as I was on the coach back from QPR after the playoff semi. Knowing that we'd have to sell off our team & might go out of business is as bad as it gets. If you know a millionaire who fancies buying a club with a small fan base in the shadow of the top two prem clubs then please direct him to Boundary Park. If not, consider life for the club without Simon Corney.
  15. Well put Aarondo. League 1 & 2 clubs can only spend a certain % of turnover on wages so Corney saying he'd leave, no new stand & even lower attendances we'd be stuck in League 2 for a while. But we'll stay up...I hope
  16. Whatever you think of Tarky, he will be first choice til end of season or at least as long as TP in charge so back him. He's a young lad in a position where mistakes lead to goals against. He has a lot of potential IMO but could be destroyed by negativity of fans. Yes he will make errors but he will also lead vocally & bag a goal here and there from set pieces. Needs support to improve.
  17. Statistic on Football League Show said a lot. We've not beaten a side in top ten all season. Defeatist attitude might have prevented us picking up extra points. No wonder we're 21st if we can't get a win against half of the league.

  19. JBrown23 I totally agree. Sounded like Dickov was going to be sacked after Liverpool game so surely Corney had to have someone lined up if he was going to sack him. We should've gone all in for Keith Hill
  20. We dodged the bullet today but 4points now desperately needed and not unrealistic
  21. I agree he needs to play up front for us to see the best of him. But when he or Baxter play as a number 10 we lack pace to stretch defences and our midfield gets crowded out. Not much pace from Croft so we don't score many with Simmo as no.10. Like from January 2012 (Kuqi & Simpson) until October when we had Derbyshire with some pace to force defenders to drop deep & create space for our midfield to score. I think he has the ability to play upper League 1 or Championship but he's got to be adaptable and make runs off Smiths knockdowns like he did against Liverpool IMO
  22. With winnable home games for Colchester and Shrewsbury the league could look worrying by tea time today. BUT it will still be in our own hands with fixtures in April and I still think TP is the man for the job until the end of the season. March is likely to be tough to get many wins from so keep calm and keep the faith! Hartlepool on Tuesday is the big game this week...Not Barca vs Milan!
  23. We should get a big performance from Jose tomorrow. Surely he ll have a big following of family and friends to impress
  24. Smith's second vs Liverpool. After Anfield last year & their equaliser I though 2nd half could be scary but that gave belief to players and fans. Amazing!
