  1. i didnt go to the masters last year, so arent overly familiar with the format. so, whats the deal - group games then knockout. I'm just thinking, if we get knocked out early doors, how much latics would we actually see - one 15 minute game?? (pessimist i know!)
  2. I'd be pretty sure Hughes would want more than a one year deal. He's nearly 33 now, I'm sure he'd want to try and maximise the income in his final years....either a week to week deal (so he can carry on training with us and try to get another deal elsewhere) or a two year deal i reck.
  3. maybe this has been discussed before but, why do we have to pay compensation for him? (when taking into account the Porter deal?)
  4. I wonder if Joe Royle has anything to do with Hughes not being able to find another club. I can imagine a few managers ringing Royle about his opinion of Hughes.
  5. Rather obvious I know, but even if Hughes doesn't get fixed up with another club, chances are that he'd carry on training with Latics. It's not as though he can jump in his car and train with another club is it?!
  6. He can't be keeping himself that fit....hanging around the ticket office waiting to be seen so that rumours can fly around here has never made my flabb turn to muscle.
  7. No, if u read the link, it said that, following his release by Latics, he's signed for a Cypriot club (presuming to keep fit etc.)
  8. Gillingham were good in about '99 when they beat us 4-1. I think it was the same season they played City in the play-off final.
  9. has anyone told you you're a doom and gloom merchant Derek
  10. let's hope the club (Wrexham) enter into administration and fold before we sell him then...!
  11. a potential good opportunity for them all....never gonna be a big club, but usually there or thereabouts, and with a promise of £4M from the chairman, could be a springboard onto better things for the management team.
  12. so how did he play? didn't manage to catch the game?
  13. Can't we tell it's close season......I've been away for my sisters wedding for the last two weeks, and at that time we were being linked with....well Abbott and Golbourne. They're obvious choices, and must admit, the signings would be good - but not as good as Murray, who has always looked class when I've seen him. Would be an excellent season, but could we afford him? Probably not....!
  14. didnt we loan that rubbish keeper from hartlepool last season....cant remember his name now?
  15. any of them senior players would be a welcomed boost....at least we'd have enough players to field a team.
  16. extremely disappointed. advancing years wouldn't of helped, but a 12month lesser paid contract wouldn't have done any harm. player of the season for me, with good consistent form all season (with the exception of the games around the boozer driving saga). Shez did a similar thing with Warne - released the previous seasons best performer, and that didn't exactly work out for the best of the team. And for anyone who wants to doubt Gregan, you only have to look at how he performed against the leagues so called best strikers - Beckford (who was getting booed from his own fans at Elland Road), Fryatt etc. etc. A big gap to fill (no pun intended).
  17. Can we close this thread now. The obvious answer has been provided, so there's surely nothing else for anyone to add. Fans = Revenue = Better Players = Success.
  18. I reck Gregan was our player of the year...most consistent performer. would defo keep for another year, although with his increasing years, put him on a cheaper one year deal.
  19. this is a bit off subject, but Chris Taylor's sister is well fit.
  20. the rumour mill's managed to rumble all the way to isreal, but for some reason missed all of us back in the homeland? i dont think so.....
  21. dean, you are a complete women. get a grip man! beany.
