  1. As one swallow doesn't make a summer, one player doesn't make or break a team.
  2. Particularly when said team doesn't really need said midfielder, and will poss be in and out of the side all season...
  3. Wrote that with a few beers in me. Sounded funny in my head then, after reading it back... not so much, Singe!
  4. Got 1-1 written all over it. Won't do either of us any favours. Dunn won't get sacked, unless there is another grand plan waiting underneath the surface that we all will be taken aback by when announced. Dunn might be given a crack at bringing some of his own players in during the window, it may work and I sincerely hope it does. For me, it's the uncertainty of what is going to happen next. No one of a certain seniority seems to want to tell us anything about plans, back up plans and reactions to different situations that may or may not arise. I'm sure we'd all feel better if we were told what to expect rather than speculating blindly about the direction the club is pulling.
  5. It all depends on how much Corney is actually arsed about the club. Sack the manager and coaching staff and we could be left in a similar state to now as the wheel of shizzel continues if he doesn't or won't invest in the club. Or he invests, gives the manager a chance with a bit of a budget and reforms the durge we have now. I can't see Corney having the stones to sack Dunn and I'm living on a prayer that he gives Dunn money to spend in January but I can't see it being enough to reform the squad. We could be in for a rough ride from now on, that's for sure
  6. Slightly better but defensively shocking. We need a thuggish experienced organiser which across the pitch we don't have. Who ever voted ecklesley as man of the match has been smoking Roger palmer fags. Murphy and Cassidy looked actually decent as a partnership. Wilson.J can do one.
  7. My Mrs is up in arms about this one. She is an Oldham fan and would find it difficult to see him play for us as she used to teach one of the kids in the car that CMW crashed into. The kid was in year 10 and was left an orphan plus he was injured that badly he never return to complete his GCSE's. For me I understand that he was only a kid himself and he had done a dickheaded thing and has served his time and even played for a league club since. But the question I have to ask is why are we trying to sign HIM specifically? He has baggage, yes we all do, but after all the :censored: with Chedgate why are we once again taring ourselves with THAT brush again? Surely there are other similar players available? I mean, no one else is rushing to sign him up. Why does it have to be us?
  8. Morning THR and merry Christmas. His loan deal as many do at this time of year has simply ended before the January window, you could very well see him go out on loan again I'd wager. For us he was ok. Not very mobile as you said. I wouldn't say his loan period with us galvanised him to your first team standard but he's not been dire, just very average.
  9. Cheers for the recommendations chaps! Looks hilarious!!
  10. Would have taken a point before K.O against an improving Coventry side, just wish it wasn't so late! Not doing my Saturday moods any good! Better late than never I guess. Need a result at Bloomfield road on Saturday to keep is moving.
  11. I think we will go and do what as we normally do we will go and get some random wins against decent opposition. I have been thinking a lot about this recently and what concerns me is what happened to Orient last season, a side that like us, where solid enough a league one side to stay up. A poor run of form and they couldn't turn it around in time. Plus they had changes in managers and some off the field problems too. If we are to stay up we need the impetuous of wins over Christmas to move us on. A bad Christmas/new year period would see us struggle to turn things around. It's going to be a close run thing, that's for sure.
  12. I like Turner, he has quick feet, just doesn't really suit our current system. Could be useful playing off a bigger lad as someone has said.
  13. Basically then, if Dunn is thinking in these terms, does it indicate that he A) Has been possibly told that he has the transfer window to bring in new faces and rid us of 'deadwood'. Or He is thinking in terms of the close season were he will let players go and rebuild. Either way, does it indicate that Dunn will still be in charge in Jan and beyond? Of course he could just be passing comment on the current state of the squad.
  14. Exactly. What he needed before was game time. He's got that now. Now if he comes back, he needs to continue his run of games. In short he NEEDS to start.
  15. Sorry for stating the obvious, but a player playing with confidence is better than one without, regardless of how he played before he got that confidence back. If and it is an if he comes back, for me he should go right back into the squad. It shouldn't matter what league he's doing well in really. He might come back and try something that our less confident strikers would, like shooting on sight.
  16. Barry takes his undercover search for a new player to strangeways wearing the sterotypical black and white stripey jumper and swag bag in an aim to fit in...
  17. Give the lad chance. He's just come back from a broken leg! To judge him on two games back is a tad harsh.
  18. I'll be renewing. Here's why; Saturdays/Tuesdays are my family time. A time when we all meet on mass, sometimes at each other's house or the pub at 12.30 for a beer and to watch the early game at the White Hart or Bull's head, chat about our week, have a bet with each other about the outcome of the game, have a bit of banter about our fantasy football league. We go down to BP, win or lose, and occasionally have a few during and after the game. Same goes for away days. It's my/our routine, however dire we maybe. Football Saturdays are part of our lives, I think we would be a little lost without them. There is the fact that Oldham are my hometown club and I want my lad to follow suit when he's my age, doing what we do now. I'm sure we as a family are not alone, in that other people practice the same routine as we do whether it be family or mates. Call me sad or an old romantic but I reckon we'll always be season ticket holders as the damn club has become part of our weekly lives!
  19. Will pass the message on, Underdog. It's a refreshing change to have the club as a pin for the community amongst all the negativity and all the politics of blame and hijinks sourounding us lately.
  20. Johnson looks like he will be kept on. Looking at what their chairman is saying and forums suggest they will give him the season. It's all down to whether they will give Johnson the money to spend in January I guess.
