10 years because that is when DVDs became the standard format. BluRay and HDTV are fast taking over, and yet the powers that be are slow to adapt. So yes we are ten years behind. In other words we are stuck in a time warp in some areas at the moment. Movie studios have caught on and release everything in Bluray and DVD simultaneously. It's time for everyone else to follow suit.

Not at all. I still have VHS tapes. And I have computerised rips of VHS videos so I can do a side by side comparisson. Sure there is a big difference, but not nearly as big a leap as there is from DVD to BluRay.

This isn't really about finding fault with the club (I would be the last one to resort to that kind of perpetual negativity), I am pointing out a fault that maybe somewhat beyond the clubs control according to what others have said. But whoever is at fault we, appear to have a system that is 10 years behind the times in terms of providing video quality of football matches. I have said something similar with regards the content on Latics Player. So this is nothing new.

And by the way, there's no excuse for anyone, especially the Beeb, not shooting football matches in HD. You can buy HD handycams nowadays.

I couldn't disagree more. I have watched DVD quality/definition football and I have watched High Def 720p or 1080p football. The difference is incredible. The jump is definitely more significant than that of VHS to DVD. And correct me if i'm wrong, but league matches must be shot in HD given the fact that the BBC show them. I have never heard of them filming anything in Standard Definition nowadays.

I just can't believe they're only advertsing a DVD and no bluray. Someone needs to tell people at Oldham Athletic that it's no longer 1999. If all they do is a DVD, then that is the equivalent of only producing a VHS after DVDs had become widely distributed. And frankly it worse, because the leap in quality from DVD to bluray is far more significant than that of VHS to DVD.

No. We get plenty of interviews and behind the scenes available to us already. I would rather pay for decent quality (HD ish) extended highlights (or even full matches) of games. Judging by the latest offering from Latics Player, where in addition to the usual poor video quality we only get 5 minutes and 42 seconds (nearly half of which is replays), this is the market that Latics need to be tapping into. At the moment I have no way of viewing online the full highlights of games I would wish to see. The highlights they provide give the viewer very little from what was an action packed match. For example I wanted to see more of Filipe Morais, but apart from our second goal, and the build up to Keiran 'Allesandra' Lee's shot you wouldn't know he even played. Not that the idiot commentator named him anyway. So you would still not know that he played. I'm also tired of hearing from the ad hoc commentator that is used on the videos, who sounds about as enthusiastic as I would be commentating on opera. And what little enthusiasm he does exude has all the sincerity of a fake laughter track due to the fact that he very obviously wasn't commentating live. I don't write this stuff just to moan. I truly hope someone at Latics reads this and does what they can to provide a much more professional, thorough and modern service to subscribers.

I think you're taking the halloween spirit a little too far

Jimmy Wagg made a great point after the Dickov interview where PD said playing against 10 and 9 men wasn't easy. "If playing against 10 men isn't easy, and playing against 9 men isn't easy and the referee gets to call the game off against 7 men, is it against 8 men that it finally becomes easy?" For me, having a 1 or 2 man advantage for most of the game should see a landslide victory. Anything less is an issue with tactical incompetence from either the manager or the players, or a lack of skill.
