  1. Yes but Fleetwood have better defenders than our shower. All Shez needed to do was sort their defence out to be a solid unit. Then play the counter attack. That’s what he did for us.
  2. Tom Hamer won man of the match in that game. Surely if he’s fitter than Hunt, throws a ball into the opposition penalty area like a bullet , can cross a ball better than hunt or Wilson he’s worth a try. At least he will give you commitment and a lot of our players are sadly lacking that at the moment.
  3. I agree BP especially about bringing in Hamer and Edmundson. Also I would like to see Nepo given a chance instead of Pringle.
  4. Hunt should not have played at right back he’s still unfit. We have a player called Tom Hamer and he’s twice as good as Hunt. He’s dangerous because he can throw a ball a long distance, he has pace to beat a man and he can cross the ball. Hunt showed today that he’s not fit, he’s no pace and his crossing of the ball was pants. SFane should be dropped for Monday and another midfielder given a chance. When Wellens took over we used to pass the ball with speed and keep it on the floor. Today nearly ever ball forward was hoofed up the pitch . We need to get back to a passing game. You cannot blame the pitch today it was a good surface for this time of the season. Let’s hope Gerrard is fit soon because that defence needs martialing. The whole team looked slow to the ball. Worst players today where, Hunt, Fane and Byrne. Byrne appeared in an interview this week on IFollow. He said that we have the players to beat Wigan. So what happened Jack. You looked to be playing in s bad dream. If we don’t start playing carpet football again soon then we are going down.
  5. I think this guy will be a big asset next season
  6. I agree with what you are saying about Placide’s recent form but Ripley has only had one clean sheet this season and is letting lots of goals in at Bury. I think we should look elsewhere and buy a quality goalkeeper at the end of the season if AL has the cash. Someone who’s contract has run out however experienced keeper would be a bonus.
  7. Let’s hope this is the first of a long list of improvements to get the ground and team firing on all cylinders. I love our new chairman. Well done sir keep up the good work in improving our club. Exciting times are ahead . Makes a nice change from the doom merchants on here. Also we should go all out to support this guy and try and get our fan home base back to a reasonable level.
  8. Well I thought no team in England had won the European Cup more than Liverpool or was I dreaming?????
  9. I thought the mighty Everton and Liverpool where just across the Mersey with fast access via the Mersey tunnel.
  10. I agree with you watched it on IFollow and thought he had a good game except for the booking which I thought was kind of soft seeing there where tackles coming in from their players which where far more dangerous that never got a booking. Mombie saved us in the last few minutes. Christ what do people want from a player blood????
  11. Two major factors why we played piss poor today. Number 1 our captain was injured in the warm up but instead of declaring this to his manager decided he would not divulge his injury and therefore the first 20 mins tried to play with reduced mobility. Wellens was livid about him in his interview after the game. When Brian Wilson came on we where a more mobile solid unit. Number 2 who the hell can play on a pitch like that. It was nothing more than a mud bath and not fit for purpose. So I reckon that Gerrard and the pitch cost us two points today. Credit to Bury they looked more up for it from the start but when you are playing against a centre back that cannot run then you will look the better team. Credit to the team for the great escape it does show great character to come back from two down on a piss poor pitch that was nothing more than a mud bath. In such circumstances it’s difficult to pass the ball with accuracy and that pitch did not suit a number of our players. Bad day at the office so a point is better than loosing all 3 . Let’s move on to next week and hope that our pitch is in better nick than Bury.
  12. Was the best shot stopper in a long while granted but the rest of his play was rubbish. Even Carlo Nash said in the summer that if Ripley came back he would have to seriously work on his distribution. Will be good to compare one against the other in a real game tomorrow. Bring it on.
  13. Disagree with you about Johnny and Bryan seems to agree with me in today’s press. Ripleys distribution has always been bad however his shot stopping last season was excellent but he’s not got many clean sheets this season so hoping we can bag a few on Saturday.
  14. I don’t get it why should we encourage Ripley to have a great game against us???? We should be encouraging our forwards to put as many into his onion bag as we can.
  15. That was in the past we need to move on , however it’s nice to see our old achievements once again n a while
  16. Personally I hope we have a stormer and I hope Ripley has a mare. I would love Doyle to put three past him and the rest of the team to chip in with another 3. It would do our goal difference a world of good. Ripley won’t have his best mate in front of him on Saturday so come on you tangerine and blue let’s put some great goals on the board. Over 2500 will be there so let’s give them something to cheer about. Why oh why do our supporters always have to support the opposition. Just because there is an ex player playing against us. Last year and this are two different seasons so come on let’s encourage our team to score a record number of goals at Gigg Lane.
  17. I agree with you about Corney, but Ripley agent who I think is his father decided that it would be better for him to be warming the bench at Burton than come back and play for us with a secure place in the team every week. I have never said that the guy is not an exceptional talent he’s probably the best shot stopper we have had in many seasons but with suspect distribution. He certainly helped to keep us in division 1 last season. I am not tapped I probably see things differently to you , we are all different and all of us have our own opinions however we all belong to the same football family of Oldham Athletic FC.
  18. Saw last 15 games of the season last year in UK. Thought Ripley to be a good keeper except for his distribution. However he and his agent did do one on Shez in the summer and to me he’s lost credibility but that’s my opinion and I am entitled to express my thoughts freely on here or at least I thought that is what this forum is for??????
  19. It’s my own opinion , however I will not be going since I am living in The Philippines. This site is supposed to be for people to express an opinion. That’s why it’s a forum or should it be called we all have to agree with one another’s discussion forum. I personally think the guy is a mercenary like lots of modern day players who would go anywhere for an extra buck, however it didn’t do him any good warming the bench at lowly Burton for half a season. Money talks and loyalty goes out the window in football these days.?
  20. I disagree. Ok he had an excellent season for us, however after him giving every indication that he would sign for us again he led Shez a merry dance over the summer. Promising to come and then at the last minute changing his mind. In fact it could be said that it was him that caused Shez to get the sack because it left Shez very little time to get in a decent keeper. He is turncoat of the first order and I would love to give him hell during the game on Saturday which I think he thoroughly deserves.
  21. True but he’s not playing as well as he did for us and seeing his mate Clarke will be not there to give him extra protection on Saturday it will be an interesting contests
