I hope the home support continues to grow on Tuesday night. I love this attacking football it’s a joy to watch after seeing our midfield pass it sideways and backwards for many years, without making any progress . I think all the media should be telling people that we are a good team to watch at the moment. I can’t wait for Tuesday night. Come on you blues.

What planet are you on and what games have you been watching. Placide is better than any keeper we have had at Oldham for years. When he plays he gives confidence to the whole defence. He’s confident at coming for crosses and he’s a decent shot stopper. His distribution is top notch. I have not seen a goalkeeper with his quality of distribution in league one for many years. To compare him to Richard O’Donnel or Ben Amos is crazy.

I also agree to that because an official match report will always be more accurate and watching highlights you can make your own personal assumptions

Well you seem to make assumptions on hearsay. I would not comment if I was you unless you watched the match. Too many people post on this forum about games they never go to watch. How the hell can you comment on a game or on an Individuals performance if you did not go?

I went to the game and I didn’t see Placide drop one cross he caught everything in the air tonight except for their goal which was a bullet header and he would have had to pull off a worldie to stop that

I went to the game tonight. Great football. Hit the bar, the post and one scrambled off the line. It could have been 7-1 we where class tonight. Placide was class he made a fantastic save one on one. He had no chance with their goal. The defence looked more solid with Brian Wilson and Gerrard at the back instead of Clarke and Hunt. We looked good in midfield without Fane. Lots of chances created and good Football played on the ground. A very enjoyable game to watch.

Why not he could repeat at Bury what he did at Notts County and take them on a nine game run of losses.

And Ruddy continues to do so, Scunthorpe . With Placide in the nets we have not lost one game . He’s played division one football in France. He’s a confident guy and spreads confidence to the defence and the rest of the team. His distribution is the best we have seen at BP for the last 10 years . I cannot understand why people are knocking him. He’s 100% better than Ruddy or Wilson.

Well I told you what would happen with Ruddy in the nets. He is Ruddy awe full. Pitty Johny could not play, that’s three points lost because of Shezes wonderful number 1 keeper. Come January we need to replace him with someone decent. Confidence should spread through the spine of the team but when you have a keeper that bad the spine looses it.

If Ruddy is in the net on Saturday you might as well give Scunthorpe the three points now. He can’t catch crosses, he’s hopeless at stopping shots and his distribution is crap.

Sorry but he would never have played Placide. Shez states Ruddy was his number 1 keeper and what a fffffing disaster he was so if you think Shez would have changed the goalkeeper think again and he would never have played Clarke and Brian together at the back. As far as tactics where concerned he was clueless. I think we would have been bottom at Christmas if we had continued playing the same set up with Mr Banks in Midfield. How many chances do you think he needed. He was stubborn and could not accept the fact that some foreign players where joining the club for him to run the rule over. Problem was he could not be arsed at watching these guys in training with the reserves and it was Wellens who was looking after the reserves who noticed the potential these guys had. He’s gone we are on a winning run so get over it and support the new manager and the team he selects. The football over the last 7 games has been fantastic. Stop saying that Corney never gave the last manager a chance because that is complete rubbish. Most of the players we have have been with us from the start of the season accept for the loans. Johny Placide was here from the start of the season just think if Shez had played him instead of Wilson and a Ruddy we could be in the Playoff places now.

Anybody remember Peter McCall wing half played for us around 1963. I remember him scoring a goal for us, think it was at home against Mansfield Town in the FA Cup and he scored by volleying the ball home from inside the centre circle. It took the goal keeper into the net as well . I remember him and Alun Williams coming to us from Bristol City. Two brilliant players on their day.

Yes he did on left wing I think he got around 14 and I think Bob Ledger scored a fare few on the right wing about 10 as well and the mystro Super Bobby J scored some goals as well, I think about 8. That team was very exciting to watch.

How about Frizzell / Lister partnership. That created some goals. Would be interested to know the stats on that.

YardDog the greatest footballer of all time that Oldham Athletic has ever had , had lots of baggage when he arrived at Oldham from Hibs but what a bloody good player he was . He also played with half a bottle of whiskey in him and he was consistent for a good few seasons. Byrne reminds me a lot of him because he has great football skill and Bobby J also liked to have a go at a ref.

McLaughlin is a talented player and on his day a brilliant football, trouble is he is not concistent enough like Byrne.
