  1. Yes, haven't done one of those for years and it would be a good laugh - would be nice if there was a pub or two on the route!
  2. @euanholden has just tweeted: First lay in I've had in over two weeks, felt amazing to sleep. Today could turn into a great day! The signing of a contract at Latics perhaps?
  3. The landlord at the Swan in Dobcross is a Latics fan and Dean Furman's kit sponsor this season so he may sell the badges for you. It's @swandobx on Twitter if you want to get in touch!
  4. Hi, You are right I bought them along with one or two of my mates but don't worry about it, just stick it in the playershare pot!
  5. According to Dave Penney, Rob Purdie "never had an injury in his life" before he came to Latics, or some such tripe, so maybe the opposite would work with Hargreaves. Hmmm...
  6. With Owen Hargreaves seemingly desperate to find himself a new club posting fitness videos on You Tube, do you think it's worth a cheeky phone call from Mr Dickov? Can't see a premier league club risking big wages on him, but would coming to League 1 be totally out of the question for him, no matter how big the risk the club would be taking on? Hargreaves
  7. I love the bogus Parker's twitter comments about this - http://twitter.com/#!/KeiganParker "I know its a downward step if i sign for #pne but its a stepping stone back to the standard i believe i can play at"
  8. This is timely given the fixture list mug idea - I've written a short article on the joy of the list on Ernie Flag here As you will have seen from another post, the guys at ernieflag have asked for more contributors and I'm sure there's plent of you out ther tha\t can do better than I can, so get posting!
  9. I believe the plan is to do commentary on the home friendlies against Blackpool and Burnley
  10. Couldn't agree more. I will be there along with three others, two of which are ST holders and one bloke who hasn't been for years!
  11. It would have to be the review from the first part of the season! I was in the shop yesterday and agree that it looked barren. Maybe we need visually to get cracking on a few more new t-shirt designs etc? Great news about Morais. There is much room for improvement, but he's been the most exciting player to watch at BP for some time.
  12. Isn't that a bit hypocritical, lamenting the rock-bottom attendance but saying you'd rather watch a more glamorous match on TV? Sorry if the last line was meant to be sarcastic, or if it's for financial reasons. It's not mouthwatering admittedly but the tide has got to turn at some point and if he plays a strong team we should have a reasonable chance of breaking the run.
  13. I was there today and it's a bit hypocritical to talk about Oldham fans being magnanimous when plenty (admittedly not the majority) of your own fans clearly weren't. There was in-fighting between Town fans and loads of the free "believe" (slogan probably © Sean Jarvis) t-shirts being chucked onto the pitch after the second goal went in. If Latics fans had've done that, I'd have been very ashamed.
  14. Given that it's highly likely we can't afford that, we should just get Big Gordon to sit on his Iphone. Corney said in his recent interview that it's never been longer than 48hrs before being resolved so hopefully that's going to be the case this time, if it's true.
  15. According to Joe Jacobson's twittering "Oldham boys not been paid again. Fourth month in a row. Something has to be done about it. Out of order from the club" Think he shares a flat with Furman so sounds pretty conclusive. Look up @joe_jacobson on Twitter.
  16. I was in the main stand, called the George Hill stand I think at the time, and was 14. Remember proudly wearing my new Latics tracksuit (the Umbro days were the best I think) and crying for joy at the late drama. An old bloke looked round at me and smiled, but he was probably thinking "the soft b*gger". With regard to not being able to get bladdered to celebrate Pukka, I'm with you there, but made up for it after the cup win at Everton!
  17. Are there any quarries in the locality that could be used to build a ground, like Braga have done Braga What about the quarry up at Scouthead? Sorry if this has been discussed before, and yes it may be a silly idea but is out of the box thinking and all that.
  18. The rarely-wrong Chron has a headline of "Latics want M'Voto back" today. If true, and possible, he's exactly what we need - was the stand-out performer in defence in the early part of the season in my opinion.
  19. I live a few minutes away from the old WH Shaws site, and would have absolutely no objection at all to that! I can't see there being any different objections than the usual NIMBYS from any other residential area. It would create jobs, boost the local economy, and would be a cracking view on canal walks! Not sure if the site has the magical 30-acre figure though?
  20. It seems the Huddersfield fans have a low opinion of the ref (hardly surprising), Latics and in particular Taylor. I guess they mustn't have fouled anyone or kicked the ball in the air at all then? Not what I saw... "....almost impossible to play football against 11 cheating scumbags who insist on punting the ball in the air for 90 minutes and hack us to the floor whenever we actually get going. I'm just extremely glad I don't support Oldham. I am however glad that Chris Taylor got smashed in the second half. His antics today were a disgrace and I'd take no displeasure in seeing him injured for a while." Read more: http://downatthemac.proboards.com/index.cg...7#ixzz1DmUjDHoV
  21. There's a couple across the road from the University. The Varsity is one and another one next door (name escapes me, used to be the Firkin). They are also down the pedestrianised road from the Kingsgate shopping centre.
  22. On a daily basis, I do nothing except mentally toil with the possiblity of how I could cope with losing Latics forever (this changes from one minute to the next but the usual conclusion is that there will be a massive void in my life and football will never be the same.) On a home matchday, I (cough, try to) help the club in a small way by doing the commentary for LaticsPlayer with a certain Mr Butterworth, as Ackey knows. I'll be at Huddersfield, a rare away outing for me but I will hopefully help in providing an emotional support for the team and the club in very turbulent times. But the other thing most of us can do (and it's appreciated that cost, time and other priorities are obstacles for many of us) is go and watch Latics next season wherever they might be playing. I dont believe that the club will simply fold in the summer and I do believe that Simon Corney, if we don't somehow stay at BP, will attempt to find an alternative, be it for one season, five seasons or however long it takes, and the main way in which we can help is going to that ground and supporting the team as we have done for however many years. Although I accept that it is a possibility in the long run, by looking for a groundshare the club are not considering extinction as an option. We all back them and want them to win at Huddersfield, or anywhere else they happen to be playing, Thurrock, Chasetown, Old Trafford, Wembley, even the Isle of Man and Ibiza! If they end up playing their "home" games somewhere other than Boundary Park, for me personally, the support and the will for Oldham Athletic to win will never change. I feel that's the main way that we can lend our support.
