  1. The fact that Brighton's finally going ahead at least gives us some hope that even after several years of poor planning and endless red tape, there will be a new ground or significiantly enhanced Boundary Park. What about other examples of clubs moving to new stadiums - genuine question - which of them (MK Dons being the horrendous extreme) have moved outside of their traditional limits, their borough? Bolton moved from right in the centre of Bolton to Horwich is it? Is that still in the borough of Bolton? What about Colchester, Chesterfield, Shrewsbury and the likes? Have they had any objection to the exact location of the stadium? I am just wondering if there are examples that we can prove that the loyal support has by and large remained despite moving away from their traditional locations? Sorry if this has been covered before.
  2. The FA Cup win vs Man City The unbelievable win at Everton The 3-1 win at Leeds on New Years Day, and the 2-0 win there too The play-off semi final vs the Lashers The long run of wins against the Bin Dippers Beating Huddersfield 3-0 on their own patch "Thrashing" them 1-0 this season Hammering Forest 5-0 The enthusiasm of Paul Dickov The spirit of the current squad The pinch-me years were a long time ago. Since Simon Corney, Blitz and Gazal took over, we have a lot to be grateful to them for, that may not have happened had they nont rescued us. Thanks. I, like many others, are desperate for great days like these to continue.
  3. Is it possible to have a collection for Playershare outside the ground on Saturday (I'm thinking strike while the Evina's hot)? That should help boost the coffers somewhat?
  4. Ha ha sod it - make Marc Tierney and the two Paul Tierneys triplets!
  5. Is it Marc Tierney's brother? Looked the ref up, and the footballer Paul Tierney on wikipedia, but couldnt confirm one way or the other.
  6. The chairman's put his money in his pocket, the football's 100% better than last season, and the one thing that really frustrates me is the dwindling crowds- only four or five seasons ago we were getting 5-6,000 consistently and even with the recession and everything else it's sad to see them drop so much. Just a thought, could be a total non-starter but why don't we offer extra public transport on matchdays, your football special if you like. They do this at grounds like Huddersfield and Leeds. Admittedly their gates are much bigger but would it help getting more punters through the door if we had special buses coming from neighbouring areas? Selling tickets/programmes on the bus might help too. Obviously they don't want to lose car park revenue but it'd make it easier for kids/teenagers to get there and more people might be encouraged to go if they could have drink. As I say I'm sure there's probably a good financial reason for not doing it, but if they don't do it now, when we move to Failsworth they definitely should given its location.
  7. Although he didn't set Yeovil alight, I thought he had a very good game at BP in the 0-0 draw earlier in the season - he ran the midfield - hope Stephens and Furman don't let him tomorrow.
  8. That got me thinking, does anyone know what the highest number of consecutive postponements is that we've had, or the longest time without a game, outside of summer and world wars?!
  9. Can someone try to dissuade Dickov from signing Robinson at the Meet the Fans do on Thursday night please?!
  10. Is he allowed to be a registered player at one club and a goalkeeping coach at another?!
  11. FAO Blue Pizza - I went down about 2pm and there was definitely an :censored: away shirt on the rail. It didn't look used, but my eyes did not deceive me. Give the club a call and you might get the shirt of your hero after all!
  12. Dean Hammond used to play for Brighton, so he's obviously still using some of the old tactics!
  13. I think Broady is doing a good job and the PA guy at Huddersfield has been cringeworthy for years! All that "come on let's show the championship what to expect next season" bollocks was just awful. It was if they'd already been promoted. Typical delusions of grandeur from Huddersfield.
  14. An interesting twist on notmustwingamesgate tonight in Penney's post-match interview. Turns out that today was a must win game because of Gillingham's position next to us in the table. Makes me wonder if we'd have drawn or lost he'd go back to his analogy of only must win games being at the end of the season where you need three points to stay up...
  15. DP again talks about the reliance of the rear end in the post-match interview from Saturday: “Deflections will go in, off someone’s backside or something like that, and you’ll end up with three points.” I am sick of him saying this. This got me thinking - when have we ever scored a goal off someone's arse? If it happens tomorrow night at Leeds, Gregan's the man for the job surely! http://www.oldham-chronicle.co.uk/news-fea...might-have-been
  16. I wanted to leave when we were 2-0 down at home against Leeds in the Premiership days. My friend told me we should stay and I'm glad he did as Ian Olney scored two quick goals to equalise! And does anyone remember that home game against Wycombe on a freezing cold night when we went 2-1 down against 10 men, there were about 12 minutes of injury time and Steve Whitehall equalised? Sadly I'd left before he did, and ran back inside to check the scoreboard after hearing a rather muted cheer for the goal....
  17. And Price's goal got us out of the bottom four didn't it? So that late, late goal could have a massive psychological impact on the team. Maybe.
  18. He's far more effective as a right back than a central midfielder in my opinon - the game seemed to pass him by before he was moved to RB.
  19. I don't agree with some of Penney's decisions recently, but he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't on this one. If he keeps them on the bench and we perform badly against the Bin Dippers, it's his fault. If he plays them and one of them suffers a recurrence of their injury, it's his fault. I guess we can only trust what the physios/medics have advised him.
  20. For once we have a big squad to choose from (and no sign of any random Hungarians! (forgot the Beast of Budapest for a second) I'd stick Rueben at right back, Timar at centre back and put :censored: in centre mid with Stephens. Smalley and Taylor on the wings. Not sure about up front - maybe worth reintroducing the Parker/Abbott combination - there were a couple of games way back when (Carlisle and MK Dons) where it worked pretty well...
  21. I am looking forward to it! It's been a bleak Christmas without being able to get to a match (and as mentioned, it may continue this weekend!) On the positive side, if Pav, Taylor and :censored: do manage to start, we could see one of the strongest line-ups we've had for ages. My choice would be: Brill Hazell Gregan Beast Jacobson Smalley :censored: Stephens Taylor Brooke Abbott Subs Ollerenshaw Lee Furman Whitaker Parker Colbeck Goodwin A couple of weak links maybe but not a terrible side. DP may have other ideas though... But back to the original point - yes, it's been too long and despite all the doom and gloom I am looking forward to it!
  22. I agree, thanks to all those that organised. It was good to see two players there too (Paul Black and Ryan Brooke). My little boy was the toddler who was initally scared of Chaddy but then started crawling round the room after him! However, seeing Big Gordon in a Santa outfit finished him off!
  23. The only saving grace is how tight the table is from where Latics are to mid-table. At the risk of stating the bleedin' obvious, a win against Exeter and it could lift us well clear. We were always on a hiding to nothing against Leeds and Norwich. The real test comes in the next three games.
  24. The Rarely Wrong Chron (local rag, for the Town fans) said it was to see if we get an improved attendance on a Sunday rather than a Saturday afternoon. Not sure if that's true, and not sure if the experiment will pay off either!
  25. I am surprised I am the first to flag this one up: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ers/8172036.stm Ian Moore is no more! It's Ian Thomas-Moore now if you don't mind. I don't think it will be just Latics fans he gets stick from this season! At least he's been into the club shop to check how much it'll cost for his adoring fans to have his name printed on the back of their shirts!
