    If I remember correctly, Frank was one the Ken Bates signings who all made their debuts together with Ian Towers, Reggie Blore. The Chron Headline at the time was "Millionaire buys Latics". Jimmy McIlroy was installed as manager soon after replacing Gordon Hurst. Exciting times if you had supported a team with no brass. But Ken eventually moved on after deciding to recoup his investment. Frank was large in name and stature, and was an old fashioned "bustling" centre forward.

    Thought the Chron could have done better than that. Maybe when the Funeral has taken place we might get some photos from the newspapers extensive archives and more stats about the great man. I was lucky to see him play many times and he always gave everything honestly. What a contrast to our last centre forward.

    Definitely Clarke's goal.Luckiest 3 points we will ever get.Donny fans will be gutted after making most of the game.But an important confidence booster to get us out of the rut.

    Don't think that Dowie had much more experience than Shez when he came to Oldham.THis team we have now is far more entertaining to watch than Dowie's fitness orientated squad.............And it's has cost a lot less to assemble.

    According to this weeks Advertiser these plans are out of date.The tower hotel project has been withdrawn in favour of additional housing. Maybe a link to the revised plans could be attached.
