  1. You’re entitled to your view, especially after making the effort to trek out to Dagenham. We all feel let down by below par performances. I’m merely pointing out that this squad has flattered to deceive many times this season and so I find it odd when people get apoplectic with rage when another disappointing result comes along. It is what it is. Instead of hurling abuse fans need to get behind the team for what remains of the season and let’s see what happens. Let’s face it, if we are as bad as some on here claim, the fact we are 9th and in a battle for a play off spot tells you this league is rubbish. Our squad is limited in ability and fight, but instead of laying into them, get behind them. If we don’t go up, the close season will see changes and then we go again in August.
  2. I had Dagenham down as a draw. I don’t particularly care about performances at this stage, only points matter. There are limp rags on here who either blub about another terrible performance, or get off in their delight at same - you know who you are - but I remain confident that we will end with 72 points. Whether that will be enough, who knows. Why said limp rags expect this fairly average squad to suddenly produce promotion form at the business end of the season is a mystery.
  3. Yes, sounds like woeful negligence/stupidity on the part of the Lemsagam regime - what a surprise. That said, we are clearly not the usual financial services outfit. I shudder at the memory of how bureaucratic the FCA could be, but you would think that a letter from the board to them pointing out the change of regime, with examples of how much better the current set up and ownership are, followed by polite persistence, might eventually get those permissions back.
  4. It's a funny thing about craft beer - there are some I genuinely like and will drink for far longer than is probably good for me, like Neck Oil or Brewdog IPA. But I do find generally that one can taste pretty much like another, I've always thought I'd have no chance of telling them apart in a blind tasting. It's probably an age thing and I'm becoming a dinosaur, but for me there is a lot more variety in real ales - good and not so good! I do think it's great that so many microbreweries have popped up all over the world in the last decade or two, there's far more choice now than in my misspent youth.
  5. I expect to see a post calling for the resignation of all the landlords of all the pubs visited.
  6. Looking at the last 5 46 game seasons, the team finishing 7th had the following points: 16/17 75 17/18 73 18/19 74 20/21 69 22/23 71 I'll stick my neck out and say we'll get the following results: Dagenham - draw Fylde - win Altrincham - draw Rochdale - draw Halifax - draw Oxford - win Wealdstone - win That would give us 72 points, so let's hope @Monty Burns is right! It's going to be incredibly tight. We don't lose many, which is a plus, but we have been drawing too many also. The Rochdale game looks pretty crucial actually, and like any local derby is impossible to predict. If we lose that, it's probably curtains, even though it would only knock us down to 71 points. Of course none of the above takes any account of what other teams do!
  7. It certainly was - we managed to lose 15 out of 23 home games in the league that season, finished with 20 home points and 34 away.
  8. 4-1 now. Chesterfield are well-nigh mathematically certain to be champions given the difference between their goal difference and Barnet's. Maybe they couldn't get motivated tonight therefore. It can't be helped, we can't and don't need to rely on other teams to get a play-off position.
  9. Yes I remember reading that Armando Ianucci and/or the writers wanted a city that was some way from London and felt isolated. My brother lives in Norwich - it's a fine city but definitely a slog for me to get to, even after they improved the A14 a few years ago.
  10. Not really! Opinions on Latics are generally way stronger and more heartfelt than being a fan of Steve Coogan or another artist I'd say. It can be depressing when as fans we verbally beat each other up on here, but I guess it would be a boring world if everybody felt the same way. Come to think of it though, I never did rate Tommy Booth.......
  11. Pride in a local boy made good etc. He's had a stellar career and good luck to him.
  12. And Liverpool....and Everton.... OK unlikely to be many Scousers if we get to Wembley but I still think we'll get a decent turnout including day trippers.
  13. Yes, as he's from my neck of the woods I should be a big fan but Alan Partridge never did it for me I'm afraid. However when he does the serious stuff he is a superb actor - Stan and Ollie, and The Reckoning, to name but two. He was amazingly good as Stan Laurel, and to take on the role that he did in The Reckoning was courageous to say the least.
  14. Haven’t we just. I think at the moment @GKing521’s reign as undisputed Negative “Fan” of the World is under serious threat from @AndyB2.
  15. I suspect Norwood means don’t consider him for MOTM again, rather than selection!
  16. Yep, it’s frustrating that we haven’t been beaten in the two league games against the runaway leaders and champions-elect, and could actually have won both of them. Got to reproduce that level of effort and skill over the last seven games now.
  17. Putting @GKing521's surprising pessimism () to one side, of the 7 games left only two (Altrincham and Rochdale, both derbies ) SHOULD be potential banana skins on paper. Unfortunately, we ain't playing on paper.
  18. Nothing serious hopefully, all the best. Let's hope you hear the roars as we stuff Chesterfield !
  19. Amongst the most asinine posts I have ever read on here, which is saying something.
