  1. Begging for the job Probably the other way round, given our club's reputation. You've written him off after six (five, effectively) games, inheriting a squad which most on here rightly see as sub-standard. Fair enough, who are you replacing him with?
  2. https://www.theoldhamtimes.co.uk/sport/19204635.oldham-boss-keith-curle-reveals-wants-stay-beyond-end-season/ KC wants the job. Some good news, at least.
  3. Can you see any other way of getting these parasites out of our club? If you want to carry on funding them, fine. Each to his own.
  4. And you trust the Chuckle Brothers to spend that revenue wisely, do you?
  5. Don't forget Inspector Knacker warned us off dangerous talk about promotion from L1. I sometimes wonder if Shitpeas and ALMO have stitched up a secret deal with Blitz to run the club into the ground and then somehow cash in on the land. No, I know, I'm getting paranoid, but......
  6. Yes I think beating us might have clinched their promotion.
  7. I was at that Man Utd game, I thought that was a goal. My memory may be faulty but I went to Old Trafford for the return which we lost 3-2 and didn't Macari punch one of their goals into the net?
  8. Depends what you mean by "end up in the net" though. Frank Lampard's goal v Germany in the 2010 World Cup was well over the line, which didn't stop Neuer playing on by pretending it hadn't.
  9. Cracking goal it was too, saw it on BBC W Mids local news.
  10. It's a bit like thinking that the objectionable Sturgeon and Salmond are representative of all Scots. They're not. Those two really deserve each other.
  11. And there I was wondering if he was heading a consortium to buy us.
  12. 18 wins from 36 league games, and doing ok until the current run of 4 defeats in a row. I think they'll give him more time to turn it round, but who knows?
  13. Good for Surridge, always a pleasure to see Dyche on the losing side.
  14. Great post, thanks LP. Interesting about the tangerine shirts in 1961 v Belgrade, I'd always thought they were a Ken Bates innovation. I've still got some of those quarto sized programmes you mention, I think he did bring those in. It's funny to think that he was yet another owner who Latics fans used to moan about, especially when he was off sunning himself in the Virgin Islands while the club was going from bad to worse. His time here almost seems like a golden era compared to the current clowns!
  15. Mr Beckett has the attendance v Internacional as 9,495. I was also at the game, remember it being a freezing cold night! I think I've still got a programme somewhere, must dig it out. Interesting re Falcao, I didn't realise he played, obviously his name wouldn't have meant much then and by the time he was starring in the 1982 WC I wouldn't have made the connection!
  16. I don't remember if I went to the Cambridge replay at Boundary Park, but I do remember going to the 4th round game v Burnley. They stuffed us 4-1 in front of 22,350 or 22,287 depending on whether you believe Garth Dykes's book or Stewart Beckett's! (A Burnley website gives the attendance as 28,114 which sounds on the high side). Leighton James had a good game I remember. What a great season that was. We'd just started a run of 10 straight league wins when Burnley beat us. After that game we won 15, drew 4 and lost 4 and despite a wobble at the end (2 points from the last 4 games) we won the 3rd division championship. Happy days!
  17. I wish he could educate the Chuckle Brothers on how to run a football club.
  18. Fair enough. I don't dispute his ability, but it seemed to come with a lot of baggage!
  19. I think we should be over Jack Byrne now. Coming on as sub - not even starting - for a very poor Ireland team isn't cause to regret letting him go. He hasn't developed, simple as that.
  20. Harsher than you think. I expect Magic Mikey had the man management skills of the Chuckle Brothers in mind. Edmundson won't just be sent back here on loan, he'll then be told to train with the youth team and won't be allowed anywhere near the first team squad. The last thing this squad needs is a reasonably experienced centre back.
  21. Fascinating that India is yet to make it as a football nation given the size of its population, I suppose the game has traditionally come a long way behind cricket and hockey.
  22. David Dunn has coronavirus according to Sky Sports, so had to miss Barrow's match yesterday.
