  1. Wash your mouth out, then when you get to the ticket office to claim your refund have the grace to apologise.
  2. Talk about re-writing history. He left Barnsley in Feb 2016, three months before they finished 6th, getting promotion via the play-offs and winning the paint pot. In what universe can he claim credit for that? Hilarious.
  3. I don't want to waste my time thinking about him, but exactly what has he achieved since leaving us? Bugger all.
  4. Remember that last time he kicked off with two 1-0 defeats, so let's give him time (which he and the club hopefully have!).
  5. Ha, ok I apologise for the Corney crack, just my warped sense of humour. I do appreciate all the effort that you've put into this and I really do hope that Sheridan's latest coming is a sign of better times and longer term planning. We must all get behind him and I wish you all the best in holding Corney's feet to the fire.
  6. Fair point ! I just worry that the more we get excited about Sheridan's return - and given our situation it is as good an outcome as we could have hoped for - the more scope there will be for despair and misery if/when he leaves early the next time. My heart has been broken once too often when it comes to following Latics. But here's hoping.
  7. Well said BP. Don't want to sound cynical, but I've almost begun to wonder whether NNN is SC !
  8. Oh come on....really!! I'm all for being positive and looking forward but please let's not kid ourselves. What assurances, exactly? Where on earth is the evidence for that? What does a 2.5 year contract really mean? How long was his contract last time? I wish him well, I really do, but he has an enormous job on his hands this time, and whether he keeps us up or not why should anyone take it as read that he'll be here throughout that contract?
  9. NNN, it's easy for me to pontificate from down here and I do appreciate the trouble that you've gone to to organise this. But OAFCMetty is absolutely right, you should go ahead on 24 Jan and do not let Corney off the hook. There remain serious questions about the long-term future of our club and the poor sods who have endured 11 home league games, 4 goals for and 1 win deserve some answers. By offering him a postponement I fear that your generosity of spirit will be met with a cynical response to defer/delay the meeting indefinitely.
  10. Sorry but that is too rosy a view. Why on earth could Corney not have ensured that Sheridan stayed on, and probably we would have avoided all the grief of the last few months - and the club would surely have not been in as bad a situation, financially or points-wise. It is rank short-termism and incompetence from Corney, who only acts at one minute to midnight and doesn't give a damn for the fans or the managers whom he hires and fires.
  11. Now THAT is quality gossip. But where is the photo Señor?!
  12. I can't imagine what Steve Robinson's life must have been like these last few weeks and the pressure he must have been over. It probably is best for both parties to let him go. Good luck to him, I'm sure N.Ireland would be happy to take him back into the coaching set-up.
  13. Great post. As a fellow exile (live near Worcester these days) who doesn't get to as many games as he should*, this board is brilliant and the humour often top quality. *I was at Oxford though to see our last League goal!
  14. Yes and as (I think) Harry pointed out, if SC had given Shez more money over the summer maybe a promotion bid and gates of 5,000+ eventually would have given some return on that investment.
  15. Superb post, Chorlton Latic ! In similarly delusional vein, I hope if he is coming back that he and Corney can agree to work together for 2-3 seasons at least. I think we are probably down this season, which makes a long(ish) term plan even more important. If we could be given hope of stability and an ambition to build for an eventual promotion bid to the Championship, goodwill and fans would start to return. A pipe dream, I know.
  16. Perhaps Shez could cough up his Notts Co. pay-off towards the playing budget!
  17. Has this been officially announced yet (not by the club, obviously!) or is it still fevered speculation?
  18. That is such a good point. I know it's easy to say but you have to speculate if you own/run a football club. Nobody wanted the recklessness of the Moores years, but if only money had been given to Sheridan at the end of last season to strengthen the squad, where might we be now?
  19. I can't agree Dan. If you want Corney to take this meeting seriously it helps to appear professional and factually accurate. In my experience misspelling a guy's name is often a sure way to irritate him and there is no point in doing that.
  20. I make our average home league gate this season after yesterday 3,554. At the same stage last season having played 1 more home game it was 4,323 so a drop of nearly 18%. Very worrying. Sitting in the North Stand yesterday the noise from the away fans in the Chaddy End sounded louder than other parts of the ground, which is depressing. Must give a plug for the restaurant in OEC though - Xmas present from my wife who bought the lunch and match tickets package (and is still thawing out). The 3 course meal was absolutely superb as was the service. Expensive I know but really top quality.
