  1. Yes and I am one of them. My choice was to buy a season ticket but if it takes initiatives like this one to get more people in then I am fully behind it. I hope they do more. Simply was just being mischievous. No-one would seriously moan about this would they?
  2. You can't have read them all as I did mention that your season ticket is your ticket. Don't dwell on the £1 bit. It is basically an all-ticket game and by having a season ticket you have already bought your ticket in advance.
  3. Oh you do like to stir things , although I did expect someone to have complained about it by now!!!!
  4. A call to arms of all regular attendees at BP!!! If you know someone who has bought a £1 ticket ask them if they are definitely going. If they are doubtful or say not going then persuade them to commit to go or sell on/give their ticket to someone who wants to go. Job done. I personally don't think it will be an issue. There are lots of reasons for going and for the non-Latics/floating supporter the prospect of being at a packed ground listening and joining in with the Athleticos all for just a £1 is too good to miss Oh and there will be a football match going on as well.
  5. I think they had been. They did say 14,000 tickets sold , so assume just meaning the £1 ones, but it was just a general figure to create an example to show how much could potentially be donated. No exact figures involved.
  6. Oh right, I gave you old news , sorry. I had a feeling Kidderminster would want to bring more than the usual 20 away fans, even before this offer was announced. Although I am not sure they would sell as many as we will in the Chaddy so not quite sure why we would accommodate them as other clubs have restricted us in the past. Then again we are a nice club so it's not a grumble. Let's just pack the other 3 stands then.
  7. Yes it says you can buy them for there. Basically everywhere apart from where the away fans are put in the paddock.
  8. Latics have done low price offers before in seasons past and so it is nothing new but this one lands perfectly with Frank returning. Regarding someone's query about season ticket holders. You have already bought your ticket in advance with your season ticket so you are fine. I think the Chaddy End is going to get a lot of people in there so it's going to be great having our fans in all four parts of the ground. Also , why are some people squabbling over this??!!! Three options: Buy a £1 ticket Buy a £1 ticket and donate. Don't bother at all and stay at home, it's your choice. No fourth moaning about it option.
  9. MM says he tells them to play positive and I assume not to hoof it either, so I always wonder when the team analyse the match during the week and MM says to the players "why did you keep passing backwards?" or " why did you just boot it to no-one?" I would love to know what the player's reply/ excuse is?
  10. A great phrase. I don't know if you meant it as a light hearted comment but it made me chuckle. In a team of 11 not every player has run around like idiots. Let Norwood bide his time and keep scoring crucial goals.
  11. Especially if the keeper just boots it anyway. There is an obsession to emulate the Premier League but as you say at our level of football it just doesn't really work.
  12. I totally agree but that is because we are old-school and just break the game down to it's simplest level. Go out and win a game of football. Don't stifle the opposition, don't quieten the crowd, don't keep it tight. Put the ball more times in their net than ours !! People tend to over think the game and have to always come up with something new and fancy to do within the match. This where the defender knocks it to the keeper two yards away to kick a dead-ball. Why?
  13. What I don't understand with players just sitting out their contracts is that surely they are de-valuing themselves when they eventually move on. So it may only be a short-term gain but it is self-defeating. A player could command a better weekly wage from a club if they have only been out for a few weeks/months but if they don't play for the first team for a full year or so then a new club is going to not want to pay high wages to a player who hasn't played. Also it is going to put off clubs because if they just take the wage then it says a lot about the character of the player and who would want that type in your club.
  14. Once you win ugly often enough then the confidence will build and the entertainment will come, honest!! We are not there yet, we will be.
  15. I said crazy more in response to BP1960 saying it's the most negative he has ever seen. I agree with every point you have made , it's just the over the top posts that I feel are totally wrong. We have a lot of work to do with the side but we have got to try and stick with it and try and eek out anything that makes your day bearable if not enjoyable. Beer helps. It is definitely getting better overall but as we are all saying we have got to somehow manage to perform against these lower teams. It's a problem not a worry.
  16. Absolutely spot on nzlatic. I go the match with all my friends and family again and let's face it we are used to the fact the match can and is usually rubbish. Life is tough, watching Latics is tough, just try and get as much as you can from it. That is not accepting rubbish, it was rubbish, but people have got to stop making crazy negative statements.
  17. That's a massively sweeping statement and you have definitely blocked out large chunks of previous seasons. Dave Penney must spring to mind? I think you have posted that to get a reaction, which is fine, it keeps the debate going, but if you genuinely believe that then wow words fail me!!! All I can say constructively is that you need to find something else to do on a Saturday as it depresses you way way too much.
  18. Exactly. How many would have dragged names up before the match? The team selection is sound it is the players approach to the game that changes. The lower teams are more physical and our players do not know how to adapt to it and then once that battle is won they play with freedom and our players go into their shell, only choosing safe passing or hoofing it. It's not a new problem for us, but at least now we do win some matches before the usual howler.
  19. Stop blaming individual players as it's Barnet's fault!! We got hammered at home last time after beating them. As some other people have said there is definitely an ingrained mental block when playing at home. I am hoping the new players will dispel that and can't be judged yet until they settle in (although people already are). Just naming players who should be in AFTER the match always baffles me, such as Green, Dickenson etc. These same players have been involved in previous disastrous matches so why would they make a difference now? It is a collective team problem not individuals.
  20. It's going to be tough in the conditions but I do hope that there are signs that we have players in now who can start to pass the ball to their team-mates on a consistent basis, but not sideways. If we do that enough times you tend to win the game.
  21. It might not have been Latics fault for the delay. Sometimes there are last minute issues that need resolving before the signing can be announced, because you are right they did stretch it out a bit. Although it was well worth the wait. I think the slight sense of anti-climax comes from all the rumours mean that it's no real surprise or shock, rather the player himself.
  22. All will be revealed soon.... or maybe not. OAFC might just drag it out a little bit longer, say until tomorrow? .... haha!!!
  23. Stay focussed people Stop dwelling on past mistakes and get ready to rejoice in another signing that is better than what we have already got and so will improve the team again.
  24. I have got to admit the hints about signings and the speculation that follows does brighten up a drab Sunday.
  25. MM played most of the fringe players to see if even they were good enough to beat a team two divisions below. Even if we didn't have a Tuesday fixture I think he would have still played most of them. All the top teams do this in the League Cup and League One and Two do it in the Pizza Cup (I can't remember it's name). The only reason it stands out more this year is because we have a lot more player to choose from who are supposed to be challenging for the first team.
