  1. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nowhere-Run-ridiculous-semi-professional-football-ebook/dp/B0BML3CYBQ?ref=d6k_applink_bb_dls&dplnkId=2c9e1f70-604e-4e3d-b3a5-cf9c466d4ec7 'A funny, heartwarming story, packed with memorable characters that you'll want to cheer all the way. Ave it!' PETER KAY -- 'I decide to do what any sensible adult would do and take the spare key from the secretary's office and hide in the outside storage unit. Locked away in the icy cold shipping container I gather my thoughts and start to consider my next move. I start to feel much calmer, until Winnie opens the unit to find me sat in the dark squashed against a disused hotplate, a ball bag and multiple packets of unopened socks. He takes a canister of Deep Heat and an old knee support and closes me back in. It's a moment we'll never mention to each other again.' On the second oldest football pitch in the world, Jonathan Sayer stands atop a beer crate to address the assembled fans of Ashton United FC. As his initial optimism begins to slip through his fingers, the new co-chairman and co-owner (alongside his dad) starts to realise the scale of the challenge ahead. Battling to keep the club afloat, a record number of games without a win sees hope turn to despair as Jonathan contends with a mutiny from a group of octogenarian supporters, constant battles with the local council and a star striker who arrives on crutches despite somehow passing his medical. As the on-pitch form continues to deteriorate and rifts appear between him and his father, Jonathan begins to make some increasingly desperate decisions: sinking his savings into an ever-spiralling wage bill, hiding in a freezing outdoor storage unit to avoid questions and even seriously contemplating bringing in a local priest to lift the 'Boxing Day Curse' by performing a late-night exorcism on the pitch. Chronicling the euphoric highs and bitter disappointments of the less glamourous side of the beautiful game, Nowhere to Run is the hilarious, heart-warming tale of life in the hot seat of a non-league football club. 'Beautifully written and engaging... funny, warm and entertaining. And stupid. Really stupid. I loved it!' MATT LUCAS 'Eat your heart out, Sheikh Mansour.' MICHAEL CALVIN 'Best thing I've read about Ashton and I was born there.' JUSTIN MOORHOUSE
  2. Renewed mine and my daughters on day of release.. eager I know but for us both to attend at £13.50 (ish) was incredible value. Well done Latics
  3. Ajax style (home) Tangerine & Blue (away) Burgundy or Red (third) Also looking forward to seeing what leisure wear we get from puma some of the heritage range they do for other clubs looks really smart.
  4. 5 strikers in the squad for me next season Reid Nuttal Fondop from last season Bring in a new striker then get Forshaw in and about the first team. Feels a harsh decision on Hope who had a good start to the season and probably still could do a job at this level.. I'll stop before I convince myself I've casted the wrong vote
  5. Certainly looks that way doesn't it. Mick comes across as a the kind of guy you would want around your team. He has two eposides on undrthecosh podcast if anyone wants to have a listen
  6. Alex Lacovitti scores past Celtic for the second time this month

  8. this came up on the comments of my facebook memories.. absolute peach a goal.. I assume we was playing Preston as I think I can make out another ex latics player Daniel Johnson?
  9. Looks like we dodged a bullet there, don't know why he randomly came in to my head
  10. This just cropped up in my mind.. Does anyone remember a trialist who played for us one preseason, was absolutely shit hot and ended up signing for Leicester? I wanna say he was a Portuguese Winger? Any ideas were he's at nowadays?
  11. Quite impressed with our transfers so far, seem to of picked up a few players with proven track record in the national league including a few players who know all about getting out of the national league, I often get over confident but I'm feeling like the play offs is a reasonable target next season
  12. Bamber Bridge (away) Sat July 9 (kick-off 3pm) Bradford Park Ave (away) Tues July 19 (kick-off 7.45pm) Mansfield (home) Sat July 23 (kick-off 3pm). AFC Fylde (away) Sat July 30 (kick-off 3pm). The final two friendlies are scheduled for July 12 and 16 with the opposition to be confirmed.
  13. Happy with it myself unsure why county released him
  14. The pecking order.. Celtic Rangers - Hibs / Hearts / Aberdeen _ Everyone else
  15. Cushty little gig ain't it.. no expectations to win the league, make sure you don't get walloped off Hearts, play attacking footy, have a cup run, possibly qualify for the europa league, you never know he might even get the celtic or rangers job if he does really well
  16. Same with next sat.. take a good look at the youth I'd imagine he's already decided on which experienced players will and won't be part of next seasons plans
  17. Another plagiarised idea but what about OASFbeermats https://bootandballprints.com/collections/beer-mats or even a oasf beer https://block109.co.uk/ or oasf gin https://www.tranmereroverstrust.co.uk/products/trfc-trust-gin
  18. I'm going to get the ball rolling with an idea I posted on twitter a few months back which was a Oldham Athletic Football Shirt Exhibition at the time of posting the person who runs the @oldhamshirts account on twitter said they would be willing to help. I'm also going to float the idea of trust tshirts but with more trendy ideas than just the trust badge there is a few websites selling "football/terrace fashion" we could pinch ideas such as https://art-of-football.com/collections/all and https://www.footballdevotion.com/ etc
  19. Not sure if this thread has been tried before but I was hoping it become an area of the forum where alternative fund raising ideas could be hatched and hopefully put in to fruition. Obviously we know there is only so much time and effort that can be put in from the volunteers who work within the Trust/Foundation so hopefully OWTB members could help each other out in getting a few of these ideas up and running.. Please feel free to contribute with any ideas you think could work
  20. Jonathan Grounds sent off for Exeter (second yellow)
