Just think he has lost his bottle a little bit which is understandable, we've had it before with Johnson.

Good point, I think there’s some in truth in that.

However, Johnson recognised it a lot sooner, and adapted a lot quicker.

Well we will miss Mombie on Tuesday but not as much as Rochdale missing their captain Henderson who has scored a few goals recently. Henderson like Mombie got a straight red at Peterborough so he misses next 3 games.

That’s just cheered me up slightly.

He’ll be a massive miss for them. He’s their main threat.

Don't know if the penalty decision was correct, but we got exactly what we deserved today. Shite.

Said it for ages, and was widely ridiculed for it after Bury, but we have no leaders in there (exception of Gerrard) and nobody to drag us out of the shit...

Don’t think you were ridiculed. We had just come from two goals down that day.

But it it seems you had a point.

  4. All this talk of stability. . Surely it only comes when the board and to lesser extent the fans think the manager is doing a good job?

I think the majority think he’s either doing ok, or shows potential but needs to improve. Why then would you want stability for the manager to prove he’s ok? Haven’t we done ok to death?

Is it wrong to want success/ or the genuine hope of success relatively quickly?

Can anybody honeslty say they are willing to wait 3/4 seasons for a promotion push? Especially when us and Ipswich are least successful clubs of the last 15/20 years.

    No wonder we get impatient.

Think there is a difference between want and expect.

All the shot data really only puts us a few places higher.

Is there? If i want to finish 1st. But expect to finish 17th, what’s the point?  What right minded fan would even contemplate going without the (blind) expectation of doing well.

A few places higher, would see us far nearer safety.

    That’d be nice.

Games that we should have arguably won or at least got a point.

    MK Dons 4-4 (a)
    Scunthorpe 2-3 (h)
    Wimbledon 0-0 (h)
    Gillingham 0-0 (a)
    Doncaster 1-1 (a)
    Fleetwood 1-2 (h)
    Bristol 1-1 (h)
    Shrewsbury 0-1 (a)
    Charlton 0-1 (a)
    Posh 0-3 (a)
    Plymouth 1-2 (h)
    Oxford 0-0 (a)
    Walsall 0-0 (a)

I've bolded the one's which I think are clear cut, the other ones are up for debate but it does show how many games where we have crafted our own downfall. The MK 4-4 was down to poor subs. Wimbledon and Gillingham 0-0's I still don't know how we didn't win those.

Charlton and Shrews were during the period without the loanees but both sides didn't offer much and we should have come away with at least a point and obviously I think we should have won the last two games.

    Thoughts?

Ive said we should be doing a bit better, I’m disappointed we’re not in the clutch above us, with gills and the like. With relegation all but forgotten. Instead we’re staring down the barrel.

He’s 5-6 points shy IMO. Doesn’t sound a lot, but could be the difference at the end of the season. Hopefully we have enough.

And yet sacking the manager consistantly has lead to us going where exactly?

That arguement only holds up if changing the manager is something we havent tried before.

Also if you read what people are saying we all want better knowone has sat their saying we dont want better than 17th in league 1

We’ve made some really, really awful appointments. That’s not the managers fault. It’s poor decision making by club. Hence why we go through managers left, right, and centre. Because we quickly find out they are not upto it, and shouldn’t of been appointed in the first place.

You only get stability, when results are generally good. Shez first time got two years, LJ got 2 years.

It’s asking a lot for stability when results are very average.

  8. Some of you absolutely amaze me.

The desperate need for stability. . We are stabley shite. Are you not bored of 17th. Or a gradual build to 13th. Because it seems 3000 lost fans are.

Its a results driven buisnees. You all know that. But seem surprised, baffled, or saddened, when people look at results and want better. Really strange.

I want any manager to do well for us, but it’s only natural to look at him and the job he’s doing when we are struggling. An IMO should doing a bit better than we are.

Yes, quite. I'm not sure L1F can say that and in the next breath say "If Wellens keeps the job.......I ....wouldn't go into next season with any great hope" and "....finish 17th. Terrific. Can't wait".

Sounds more like 40/60 stay/go to me.

If he keeps us up, he deserves a run of games - at least 10 if not more, unless we get cut adrift - next season to show if he's improving the team. There is a lot to admire in him in my view, and he's taken on a tough job.

    Fair comment.

I probably am 60/40 to go/stay but only because I don’t think he will really push us on next season.

He’s done a reasonable job, and will continue to do so. But is that enough? I’m not sure it is.

If he does stay, then I hope he proves me wrong next season, and we have a belter.

This might sound very harsh but what worries me most about Wellens is his character, or at least how I perceive it. Talking players and the squad down both in public and when he thinks it's private. Whinging about not being able to sign his pick of Championship players. Making excuses. We all know it's not been ideal but get on with surprising us with what you can make of it. I worry he'll find that harder to learn than tactical changes and effective substitutions.

I don’t think it’s harsh. It’s a fair reflection of what’s happened. I think the point about not being able to sign championship players, is spot on. Like Mills for example- by all means go for him, I like the ambition. But don’t moan when he wants more than we can afford, (surprise surprise) and have a back up signing! One that maybe isn’t as good, but we can afford.

Except 3 months wasn't anywhere near long enough to judge any of those managers.

Just because the previous owner repeatedly made some ridiculous decisions doesn't make it an appropriate policy going forward.

Agreed. But your talking about an owners ability to appoint the right man. You could argue they should never have the job, but they all wanted it. . Etc.

Managers don’t get sacked because there doing a good job.

In the short space of time there were at the club. The results and football were largely dire. Hence they got sacked.

Which would you have kept? Honestly?

It’s very different with wellens, because when we’re good, we are terrific. However it tends to be for 1 half, or half hour or even 10 minutes spells. Signs of progress for sure. But you can’t ignore how bad we are at the back.
