It's not just the clapping....yes if Doyle starts to display the same.....just go. It's said many many times one bad apple in the cart rots away. But hey, am not fucking worthy.

To a man the side fought and dug deep for the draw, did Holloway stand tall with them at the end? no he didn't. Did he against Bradford? no he didn't

Time to leave the haters to it.

Why are you so pissed off?

Not having a go, but who cares?

If he doesnt give shit- he just goes on the pile with the rest.

  2. Keep with two up top?

    It’s a must for me.

I think if we play with one up front, and sit in we’re in trouble. Oddly though, when we were doing well early doors RW kept saying he didn’t like two up top but Doyle and Davies form meant he had to. We then went one up front, and started struggling.

I hope he he sticks to what wins him games.

Here is a thought give the lad a chance rather than being utter numpties and writing him off before seen him even play. I haven't a clue if he is any good but don't try and convince me he should get abuse for signing and wanting to do well. Latics fans are fickle buggers. As for Wellens not wanting free agents why say it if just a way to make him look daft.

Because he doesn’t have a say on certain signings, and was being honest in an interview?

This is how it is now.

Wether it works is very much up for debate. Should the manager have full automnomy over the squad? Or if he gets a majority of his own signings; but has to accommodate the owners signings as well, should he just get on with it?

Good luck to the lad anyway.

    Changed the goal post!?

You're not even looking at them!

You asked me a direct question which I replied to again your are ignoring it all. Like many Oldham fans it seems you've made you mind up & that won't change.

Sack another manager like the last 10. Let's see how it works out this time … repeat.

I’m not getting into where the goalposts are, or who’s got them. ?

I don’t want him sacked. . Yet. I would genuinely love him to turn it around. He’s got a lot of good qualities. I’d just like him to stop being his own worst enemy. I agree the ever revolving door is no good, but results dictate unfortunately.

Placide has punched direct  shots back to the opposition too many times.

Surely our goalkeeping coach is aware of this and told him catch the thing?

You’d like to think so BP.

Im not sure wether that’s part of his ‘flamboyancy’?

Might I respectfully suggest the points are being missed:

    1.  When Abdallah says he has the final say it is just the same as when your spouse or partner says you have the final say.

    2.  Wellens has already said the squad is too big. He knows he hasn’t signed the player we desperately need, centre back, and he will probably lose his job as a result.  15 of this squad will not put their foot on the pitch this year and his targets failed through a lack of cash. Stupid is as stupid does.

    Point 1 .  . ?

I think he comes across as frustrated!

He's at  club that couldnt do business for 3 weeks of a 4 transfer window! Which couldnt register players when they'd signed. He has a goal keeper who doesn't stop shots, a defence that makes individual errors constantly and has been criticised for playing one up front despite all other options being not able to play 90 minutes more than once a week. A team that creates a tonne of chances most games but misses the target and then drop points to sides that hit the target once ot twice and always score.

I think if you are aware and don't ignore all the attributing factors including his fucking assistant quitting and the training ground being flooded this last month plus he's come across unbelievably well!

Or you could ignore all that and look at, ignore his actual words and the facts and try to read his body language instead. ?

Edit; please dont tell me he knew what he was letting himself in for when he took the job because I'm sick of hearing it & and it's bollocks!

Very aggressive. You ok? Or just frustrated? ?

Whose said anything about body language? You’ve mentioned it twice now. . . Who’s fixated??

Your long sympathy list, is called managing a skint football club. The way your talking the job is absolutely impossible, no one could do it. . . but against all the odds he’s still here!

He’s very lucky to be in the job!

Why is him knowing the situation when he took the job bollocks? Is it because it’s true?? Or is it because the goalposts are allowed to shift to suit your point of view? Not unlike our manager at the minute.

He needs to stop whinging about every facet of the club, and get a win.

    Its that simple. ??

So you ignored the fact he asked the fans to create an atmosphere because we always win when the atmosphere is good. Hes been asking for it for weeks

You're ignoring what he's been saying for weeks which is full of positives every week (this board is always full of posters saying he's talking bollocks when he does that by the way) to fixate on body language after a bad day at the office.

When I listen to him I enjoy his interviews. I think he speaks honestly and from the heart. Maybe too much at times. I don't look for hidden messages or for conspiracys.

As for the fans coming together is this the same fans that booed Banks on to the pitch or those that blamed 1 up front for shit defending after 10 minutes last week?

I dismiss you as negative because you are ignoring what's been said in favour of how he looms. It's that simpl

Do honestly think he’s coming across well recently? Especially the last month or so.

  7. 3 minutes ago, singe said:

It's not his honesty, that is welcome and refreshing, it's the looking beaten

Very few are actively Wellens out.

Many are voicing concerns because some indicators are there. Dunn-esque blaming everyone. Shez and the end esque looking beat.

Alarm bells, but only stage 1 alert.

A win tomorrow and the pressure will ease quite a lor because of the win, because he's show he can motivate, because he can change tactics.

If we lose, against a team that has W1 L9 of their last 10 games conceding 23 i the process and there will be more questions inevitably.

    We need a win.

Spot on. That’s exactly where I’m at.

It's not what he says it'd how he says it!

If ever youre looking for proof are looking for negatives there it us!

    Don't forget to smile Ritchie!

    Eh? Proof of what?????

Im giving an opinion. On a forum.

Why do you and others dismiss people as negative when they challenge your point? Isn’t that point of a forum? To reply it’s proof of negativity is wrong and lazy.

I take it from your post, your loving listening to him go on about how hard the job is?  A job he craved for three months ago.

I on the other hand would like some POSITIVITY from him, get the players, fans to come together for the mess we’re in.

Since when did a manager actually telling people how it is and what happened become a bad thing?

social media is constantly talking about lack of communication and lack of transparency from people within the club and when someone finally explains why something didn't happen (transfers) in detail he told to 'shut the fuck up and get on with it!'  'stop moaning!'  An agreement to get a defender (a friend as well) is made only for a championship club to take him on the final hours due to league position would piss anyone off

I like Wellens and like his interview style. He doesn't stand fools and im sure he gets frustrated which shows sometimes (Shez was the same)  but wouldn't you if youre being met with nothing but road blocks constantly and then answering the same questions over and over again everyday ?

He is getting on with things but if the club or Wellens had said nothing there would be rumours we did nothing to get people in and how shit we are. Sometimes they cant win

I can totally see why he’s pissed off, and in certain areas I agree with him. But he knew the score when he took the job.

The point with his interviews is not what you say but how you say it. I like his honesty, but there is a world of difference between

‘we weren’t aggressive enough with the two players, we couldn’t agree another year for Matt mills it’s really frustrating.’

    or

we were in for two players who I thought would be excellent, but we couldn’t get them over line, but I’ve got 6/7 in, and we need to come together now, and move up the table’

He sounds more and more like he’s having a dig at the club, the structure, the lack of quality, what we can pay.  He talks about one of those things all the time now. Not good.

We are where we are. I want him to have say. . but he’s still the manager. A bit more balance wouldn’t go a miss.

  10. He didn’t come into the job from the outside, and suddenly go ‘shit, what have I come into here!?’ He’d had 3 months working closely with shez, he saw how AL’s signings we’re affecting/or not the team, he saw the toll it took on shez. He had a chance to have a good look at the squad before he took over. Having seen all that. . .he was desperate for the job!

I understand being on the perifery on things and being in the position yourself are two different things, but where has that early drive gone?? I said the other day, more than the moaning (never a good sign) he looks beat down by the job- a lot similar to shez. But I can look past shez, because of what he did for us and the shitstorms he got us through.

I understand it’s a difficult job, made more so by the structure of things IMO. BUT the first window AL had to back him he’s let him sign 6/7 players. Talking about players who’ve not come is bollocks, talk about who’s here and start concentrating on getting us out of the shit.

Yes, HE missed out.  See my post above.  Funds were clearly available if we are going after the likes of Cole.   HE has a job to do.... he needs to get better at it.

Agreed. While I think there’s issues of who’s signing who. The simple fact is, he’s not getting the best out of them at the minute. It needs to change rapidly.

  12. 7 minutes ago, kowenicki said:

Yes. You’re all guessing and, in grand OWTB style, thinking the worst.

    Thinking the worst?

We’re third bottom. That’s the reality.

It’s not like he’s just come on the scene, and we’ve suddenly signed 6/7 lads we’ve never heard of. The current way of doings things has been happening since the summer.

That has seen seen us lose a manager, have largely poor results, and our current manager is under massive pressure.  In addition we have 6 or 7 squad members who never play, are deemed not good enough and must be taking a sizeable chunk of our budget.

None of the the above is guessing, that is what has happened.

My hope is Wellens gets more of the signings which he wants, which in this window he has tbf. Fingers crossed we’ve got enough to stay up, especially with Doyle.

Then in the summer the club has Big think on how to bring the players in AL knows without it have a detrimental effect on the team, and budget.

  13. 4 hours ago, Hands on said:

    To show my ignorance (again).

Is it usual to have trialists in the January window.  Surely this is something you do before the season starts to check on a players form.  Shouldn't we be signing players who have played games and who have been assessed by someone for us.  Trialists speaks of a van full of people with names we have never heard of before.   They are unlikely to be the answer for a team staring at relegation because there is no time to acclimatise to league 1 football.

Couldn’t agree more. If the management team were looking at players for the first time yesterday and being expected to make a decision on them then that can’t be good.

I would hope that the scouting and recruiting is carried out much more professionally than that but I’m far from convinced.

The last lot of foreign imports hardly set the place alight - Omrani, Mouache, Menig, to name but three. I do wonder whether Shez earlier in the season and RW currently are being ‘given’ these players and being told that they are going to be signed. Hope that isn’t the case because apart from it being unfair on the manager, they have been, on the whole, sub-standard.

Not being negative just saying it as I see it.

    Spot on.

I don’t mind if AL Suggests players to Wellens, or the whoever is the manager. Or offers them a trial in the summer so we can have a good look before making a decision. But’s not what’s happening. Players are just being signed or offered a quick trial and shez and now Wellens are just having to deal with it. . .

We will constantly have two different agenda’s when it come to signing someone, who the owner can bring in, and who the manager wants. Common sense tell you, that will cause friction.

The most pressing thing though is the players AL has brought in, are largely poor and Wellens doesn’t trust them. IMO if it’s RW neck on line then he has to be given full responsability for the job.

  14. 4 minutes ago, singe said:

A bit like Lee Johnson, there is no way Richie Wellens is manager who will have half a dozen players forced on him, He'd walk.

It’s missing the point singe. I’m not saying he has to play them or he’s fired. Your right, he would of gone by now. I’m talking about a hefty chunk of the squad never playing, and aren’t gonna play. Why? Because the manger doesn’t fancy them. Simple. That can’t be good for them, the manager or the club.

How is stockpiling footballers who aren’t good enough, a positive thing?

  15. 17 minutes ago, nzlatic said:

McEleney, Benyu, Pringle, Zeus, Byrne, Bryan, Nazon.  I think those are all our signings with Wellens in charge.  How many of those have been forced on him you think?

    Fair comment.

Equally though, who out of Uche, De la Paz, placide, moimbe, kyeremeh, menig, omrani, maouche, and gevaro did Ritchie really want? Secondly having the chance to look at them, who does he play? Placide and gevaro. So 2 out of 9??

That’s 7 wages that sit there doing nothing, when Wellens desperately wants to strengthen elsewhere. I wonder if them 7 wages would go some way to getting on Doyle on a permenamt?

    I know which I prefer.

    Gotta love OWTB.

New owner dismissed after 5 days.

Moaners find something else to moan about.

I swear some on here are not actually OAFC fans.

And it is very amusing to see those defend RW, to the point of criticising the new owner, RW cannot be wrong has echoes of those that defend Trump or Brexit.

    The cognitive dissonance is incredible.

There are issues ( like can RW save us, has Abdallah got the money to bring in the quality we need) but where and why are wide ranging rather than one dimensional.

    It’s a forum.

Where people might see things differently to you. Do you use terms like cognitive dissonance to come across as enlightened and somehow dismiss others POV?

    I think that’s a shame.

Who said the owner has been dismissed after 5 days???  The moaners find something to moan about - is a default position, and lazy.

You imply I and others don’t support the club, or want success because we have concerns and question things? Er. . Ok.

Defending Wellens to the point of criticising the owner?? I’m asking them to work together better- for the benefit of the team.

Its hardly hard hitting, more a sad reflection of where we are. I hope it improves. Quickly.
