The mood seems to be that we’re dreadful and certs for relegation. Ridiculous overreaction as per usual. We either acknowledge that Wellens has been fed a shit sandwich over the last couple of months and give him some time to get back to how we were playing when he took over. Or we bin him off, rip everything up and start the cycle all over again.

I’d love him to turn it round, as I said earlier, them early performances were so good to watch. But 2 wins in 16 is a massive worry.

Are you confident we’ll be ok?

Pringle missed a sitter at 0-0. Gardner hit the post at 0-1. Could have been a very different result.

Silly red red and pushing forward meant it was 3-0. Not sure about that penalty.

We desperately need a goal scorer (fit Doyle would be perfect) and PLEASE can we sign a left footed left back!!!

Not aimed at you but it’s; Should have could have would have. We can’t keep saying we’re playing well, or we’ve been unlucky.

Them chances go for you when your winning games.

As as others have alluded to, will AL want to start in league 2. .

  3. You just can’t dress it up anymore. Them early performances were some of best I can remember, but we concede far, far to many. We keep going a goal down. It’s hard to win matches when you always have to come from behind.

It would be typical latics to get new investment- and then go down.

  4. He can go for me. He’s excellent with his back to goal, and has a decent feet, but unfortunately for him Davies does all of that but actually scores- which for a striker is handy.

Why RW would replace Holloway with Clarke-Harris is bizarre. He’s to similar to Davies, which is exactly what Wellens has got now and said he didn’t want.

Welcome to shitstormFC Richie, he says it as we see it I will give him that.

    Absolutely spot on.

He says it exactly as it. I don’t disagree with a single word he says in that interview. I don’t feel sorry for him, because he must of come into this club/job/shitstorm with his eyes wide open, if he didn’t then he’s naive. But I do really hope we give him something to work with. Because it’s blindingly obvious he’s good at his job if he’s given even a half decent team to work with.

Giving them the incentive for them to do something is well worth them retaining their share of profits.

Sorry, I don’t understand that view.

They have a empty unit. One that has been empty since it was built, and didn’t look like being used in the near future. The trust has put a lot of time and effort into creating something to fill the empty unit, and it could make the OEC money that it doesn’t seem capable of generating itself. Should it take off, I would fully expect the OEC to take it’s share.

However for the Trust to show this sort intitiave, and considering it could be a win win. It feels like blatant profiteering, on the back of people’s hard work and dedication.

I think its a real shame, and a missed opportunity to get some real positivity between fans and club again.

    Hope it goes well today.

When Johnson left hope and optimism went with him.

In what sense? That we would never be successful again? Or something else?

I felt something similar at the time. But on refelection it was what he created ‘we’re in it together’ ‘one club one dream’ rather than the football IMO.  Until near the end he was very good at masking the shit behind the scenes and making us feel we were going places. When we in reality nothing had changed.

Very good at leading and managing the club as a whole for a time, but it did mask the football IMO.

The last manager to show a degree of long term progress who was unreasonably hounded out of the club by a bunch of self entitled, petulant fans, and spineless chairman who refused to stick by him.

But that's just how I remember him...

    Ok. .

Did you enjoy the football under him? Personally I didn’t. Like I didn’t under LJ. However I fully understood that’s what they felt was the best way to get results.

Shez first spell, Dowie, and Wellens see it very differently, and their sides reflect this. They also had more relative success. I’d much rather watch their football, but each to their own.

  9. The fact we still talk about him says a lot. . However he doesn’t get anywhere near being our best since JR.

He was and is very capable, as many have said he was very good at PR. We bought into his bullshit, and then when we realised he didn’t really mean ‘one club one dream’ it stung. However the football (the bit fans really care about) was for the most part bang average. Apart from the two month spell around Oct/Nov culminating in the 3-0 away win at Rochdale.  After that the many faces of Lee Johnson appeared and the wheels fell off.

Ive been to 4 games since Wellens took over, and I can honestly say I’ve enjoyed those a lot more than anything Johnson served up. The football is far, far superior. In fact  I’d much rather watch a Shez, Dowie, or Wellens side,  before LJ.

He got results with us in a very similar way to Ronnie Moore did, pragmatic, percentage football. How do we remember Ronnie again. . ?

    Wellens first 12 League Games

    P12 W6 D4 L2 Pts 22

Match or better the same run we’ll have played 33 overall with 48 points needing a minimum of 22 from the last 13 games. I can’t see it tbh - especially if we lose Doyle who’s scored almost a third of our league goals.

wellens has averaged 1.83 Pts a game over a season that’s 84. However he’s only going to manage 37 games this year so that same 1.83 x 37 equates to 60 and I expect us to be around the 60-64 point mark.

if you take into account our points per game over the full season so far it’s around 1.24 meaning we’ll be around the 57 point mark but as I’ve said I can see us doing better than 57 and our usual 17th.

The opening 9 games has killed a play off push unless we replicate  Apr-Nov ‘90 and sept ‘06-Feb ‘07 or the start to 08/09

‘90 we had Ritchie and Marshall

06/07 we had Porter in the form of his life assisted by Warne

    08/09 we had Hughes

Doyle or someone similarly prolific is the key. Even then we are likely to fail BUT it’ll be fun trying!

This is is what we need to emulate to get into the play offs

    25 games remaining...

    ‘90 P20 W13 D7 L0 Pts 46/60

    06/07 P25 W16 D6 L3 Pts 54/75

    08/09 P25 W13 D8 L4 Pts 47/75

That’s very reasoned and probably spot on.

    But fuck it. .

    E I e I e i o! ?
