Rick
dont worry John... we are all right behind you! * *just dont sod it up again on saturday! He also says "I think a lot of people believe we can do well this season, and I'm glad they do, but they are frustrated with one or two results." However, he fails to mention that people are also dumbfounded at - his decisions to loan out two perfectly good strikers - one of which was our leading goalscorer last season - when the other options are quite frankly not working; - allowing one of these to get cup tied; - not filling the bench with the number of players we were allowed to in the FA Cup; - leaving our only current full international player on the bench - despite him being an ever present when we had a solid looking defence earlier in the season. So in my view, he doesn't share our pain. Perhaps he should firstly read this messageboard and then, during his next Annual Appraisal, ask to be sent on a Man Management Training Course. He still has my support, but I cannot believe that we let Davies go out on loan and get cup tied.

Not to start a whole new thread... but do you honestly think a club like Oldham has such business mangement approaches? Appraisals, career management converstaions, 1:1's, performance plans... I know they will in some context, but I highly doubt with any structure... I know it has been said before... but a few basic business principles would do this club some good, something which I'm sure TTA understand very well, and probably frustrates them more than anything as the basics just dont seem to be happening.... as you say basic man management for starters.... Not to go to the other extreme... but Mr Wenger - picks players for both his team and potential transfers due to psychometric assesments, rumoured that payrises/new contracts are based not soley on ability, but on persomality profiling.... if only we could even have a glimpse of this at our level... Oh well... have to stick with the half time bollocking... thats about it...

TrikkiNikki
He's certainly not sharing my **monthly** pain!!!! Letting TWO strikers out on loan?!?!?! Cup-tying one of them?!?!?! Bringing in an unfit/ageing striker on loan?!?!?! Unexpectedly dropping a perfectly adequate defender for an unknown quantity loanee?!?!?! Dropping a perfectly adequate defender who goes off to play for his country?!?!?! Tinkering with a winning strike partnership?!?!?! Boasting that we have a large/strong squad and being unable to fill a substitute bench and having to use a midfielder as a striker?!?!?! TINKER TINKER TINKER - we are not Arsenal - have a strategy and stick to it!

Perhaps he based his judgment of said keeper on psychometric testing, rather than noticing that he didn't follow perceived stereotypes and drink 5 bottles of spirits a day? Perhaps you are the Schizophrenic one here? Or is that the voice in your head that is the Schizophrenic one? I have always rated Davies and Eardley. Don't think much of Jones' defending and don't think he has brought us more than one goal more than Kelvin has done. We had a team and formation that was working with a good strength of depth in the squad - but now we aint!! We the Leezy's just think certain people are being a bit sychophantic about the players he has let go - we personally try and see the best in all our players and never give em jip bit just strikes me that everyone is now backing the ones we have let go - if he recalls Davies and O Grady and picks Eardo and Lomax, there will people calling them :censored:e again - we appreciate everyone is different - just seems to me like the majority has swung in favour of the outees just to have a pop at Shezza ! OldhamSheridan
It does seem that the slipper to boot Sheridan up the arse with has been passed to the other side now. At what point was our top goalscorer from last season knocking them in for us this season. In fact at what point was he not prancing around the pitch like a mardy-arsed loser*? O'Grady went out for first team football once Ormerod came into the fold - a move rejoiced from the hilltops (the Ormerod one). This is for first team football only (and before anyone adds - this you do not get in reserve football). Eardley I think was a mistake in my view - but I've not seen anyone on the pitch take as much stick from our "fans" as him since Butcher was at the club. Maybe he feels a break was in order for this if nothing else. To me, if changing things, he should just have stuck Lomax there rather than mess about with Hazell - but he was probably worried about the height and physical side of things that Cheltenham bring to the table and wanted three big lads in the middle come corners/freekicks. I think Jones is better than Lomax - so that isn't an issue in my eyes. But then again he probably had a bad game at some point so get that stick out. *It was after he was getting sent off for headbutting someone whilst the ref had hold of his arm. LaticNik
Friday last week it was a race to get the new striker in. We lost the race but the deal was "90%" done. Rumour has it it's Byfield with Donny fans at weekend apparently confirming as much. Now we're on Wednesday with no real update. Is Shez's position currently under review? Are TTA sick of backing him by bringing in new players, especially strikers? Is this the beginning of the end? E4e DOORS

Rick, I know you rate Davies, and I personally think he is one of the most frustrating players I've ever seen in the Blue, but it seems fairly obvious that CD has burnt his bridges at Oldham. I know Shez doesn't come across as the sharpest tool in the box but he's not an idiot. He didn't let COG get cup tied but he DID allow CD - for me that means we've likely seen the last of Davies. Now I've also heard the rumours about certain incidents within the dressing room, and whilst I'm not going to repeat them on here as it does little from a constructive point of view, I did hear them from what I think is a fairly reliable source. Added to his ridiculous sending off at Rochadale and his 'history', I can see why Shez wants him out of the dressing room. The O'Grady thing has me stumped though. E4e DOORS It's not the beginning of the end, it's the end of the beginning of the season. Last night's rarely wrong Chron said Shez is hoping to wrap up his move for a new signing in the next 48 hours. He indicated last week that he was virtually certain to bring in an experienced striker, but the deal was delayed by issues with FA Cup eligibility. It also said it still might not happen as details are yet to be finalised. It went on to speculate that "Athletic co-owner Simon Corney is expected to speak with Sheridan and his assistant, Tommy Wright, at Boundary Park this week." So we are no wiser than we were last week.
jonnyl@tic
The Byfield loan is with a view to a permanent move January would that be holding up the arrival wages etc? According to reports Byfield has sorted out his release from Donny who will no allow him to move. I would imagine any hold up now is down to the player and wages.
