Personally, somebody like Jonathan Forte from Scunthorpe would be an Interesting possibility - scored a few at Doncaster - maybe when Penney was manager there - and scored a fair few on loan at Notts County last season. If you think that Notts County had John Thompson playing centre mid, the service can't have been that great to him yet he still scored regularly?? garcon Posted July 17, 2009 Share Posted July 17, 2009 Ideally ... someone who can read the game has a decent lick of pace, can find that half yard of space in the box, and scores 1 in 2. No chance of that mix from someone in their prime, so we have to choose between an older player who ought to give us a bit more nous and consistency, or a gamble on a young up and coming star and hope he comes good for us. Some hungry up and coming pacey kid could turn out to be the next sensation or equally found out to be not quite good enough. The more mature tried and tested could score in the same ratio of games his career stats suggests and cost accordingly to the ratio or play out his days at rain soaked BP.
