come on you dingles

they will probably still win the league, but isnt it depressing how Burnley were in our league a few years back :disappointed:

So were Man U. :disappointed:

But come on, tonight's not the night to be depressed about that, laughing at others' misfortune is one of the few pleasures we have left.

It's the reason I read the BBC pages, and look forward to hearing from my Geordie mate  I am no fan of the Dingle, but....

how very very very sad. the fact that you would rather look at a game between 2 sides who mean nothing to Oldham and enjoy beating the other than look at the people running Oldham and ask why a town a third the size of Oldham are 2 divisions above them in the league.

but instead of asking serious questions, i expect a load of abuse for being a "ManUre *******".

I think that Corporal Jones fella might have struck on something........

To be quite frank, I hate Rochdale, Cheltenham, Milwall, Brighton etc more than United and took more pleasure hearing about Julian Alsop's 90th minute strike last night than I did when I heard Burnley beat United (in turn, messing up my coupon). If we're going to have rivals, at least make sure it's one around our level of ability instead of poking fun at European Finalists with world class players in the side.

As had been explained before, it cant be helped for some due to the numerous united fans that many know and have contact with. Id imagine over the years, like it has for me and others, we get fed up of bein made fun out of and put up with the arrogance and cockyness of the vast majority of united fans, not all mind. So when ever united get beaten its quite enjoyable to be able (if possible) to have a bit of a gloat over their misery as im sure they will soon be back to winning ways. Quite why you feel the need to tell us how very very sad we are, when as you say we are nothing to united you feel the need to come on our message board and tell us. Ask serious questions about the people running oldham?? i assume you mean the owners, and by that il assume you dont check out latics news very often as by the looks and sounds of things the owners are are going someway to try an address the problem of us 'underachieveing' as you hint at by aiming to get a new stadium etc. hope that helps.

in terms of united fans who gloat in pubs etc without going to games, yeah, rub it in their faces when they get beat, but I still dont quite understand the mentality of going in a pub when they are showing united and supporting the other team but hey ho, each to their own and all that.

In terms of Oldham, and YOUR message board, I am not calling all of you sad, just the ones who were taking as much delight from a Burnley goal as I see them taking from an Oldham goal. I do check Oldham news quite often actually, as I have lived in this town for a large percentage of my life, and a lot of mates who I have gone through school with support Oldham. I go to games when I can, and would like to see Oldham do well for the town in general.

The owners getting a new stadium? for what my two penneth is worth (probably not a lot the majority would say but never the less), they will be selling prime building land at Boundary Park, and build the new ground for half the price, probably by borrowing the money. How do you you think they are going to secure that finance? My guess is by mortgaging the new ground, thereby costing them next to nothing and passing all debt onto the football club, leaving them to walk away with a nice big profit. (which I believe they have already made noises about recently)

I didnt feel a "need" to come on here and tell you you are sad, and no, Oldham do not mean anything to most United fans, however, as someone who lives in Oldham (but not born in Oldham) they have some local relevance, and this is a forum I enjoy lurking on for some of the non football related stuff that gets posted, just thought I would add my opinion, cos thats what footballs all about, isnt it?

I think i remember having this convo with you sometime ago in the general footy chat?? i think it is, though i may be wrong lol. Anywho, i dont see a problem with doing it on here or in the pub for that matter. As for on here, id agree with you if it was oldham fans going on a united message board gloating, and it being a bit sad but on here, i suppose its similar to folk txting mates the score an having a little laugh and whatever. On here it il be for people posting and having a little laugh/dig with a good number of other oldham fans who dont particulary like united (myself included). Personally as much as i enjoy it, im not one to air it publicy, more between mates and family. Id imagine not many would actually think any united supporters would be on the messageboard that have a liking for latics (i think most on here who do like united have latics first, whereas i imagine your the other way around?)

As for who owns the new stadium/what debt we'll incur, and how we will secure finance i havent the faintest idea and maybe others can clear that up. My own personal feeling would be that id love us to stay at BP or move to a more preferable option within the borough, yet as it is the new stadium seems the way forward, and as for how the owners might leave us, well i have a lot of trust and respect for them for what they have done for the club though im not blind and if it came about that this definitely wasnt right id be against it. No offence, but if more united and city fans such as yourself had more interest in the club we may not have to move at all as higher attendances may have made it more viable to stay at BP. As it is i feel (i hope) the owners have the clubs best interests at heart and will then look to forward the club once were at the new stadium and hopefully do a Burnley(and better).

Hey no problem with you giving your opinon, as you say its what its all about, hope my post didnt come across as that, if it has i do apologise, im probably too tired to word it correctly, then again we are having this debate at a pretty silly time of the night

The reason that many Oldham fans dislike Man Utd is the gloating they have had to put up with from Oldham born Man Utd fans who never go to games, it was like when I went to the pub to watch the european cup final half of the fans had forgot to iron or cut the tags off their new United shirts.

The reason why I dislike Man Utd because a great deal of their fans ( not all ) are not football fans, they are just United fans, by that I mean if a club like Rotherham for example were to go out of business, a club I have no affinity with I would still feel sad because it is bad for football, a Man Utd fan wouldn't care they would be more concerned about how many times they will be on ESPN this season.

I hope the summer's events will make them more humble but I doubt it.

I certainly don;t hate any team, far too strong a word for a football team.

I certaintly did not celebrate joyously when I saw the result.

And I most certainyl did not take any more pleasure than if Oldham had scored, and anyone that did cannot be a LAtics fan.

But, a good chuckle and a wry smile that the might Man UI got beat by the Sister Worriers TM. Yep, guilty are charged.

Spot on Stevie lad... :chubb:

... although, you have to have a pretty cold heart to hate Cheltenham... but I suppose that :censored: of a manager would do it....

Oh yeah, I fully appreciate the banter and all that, it just saddens me a bit when I see grown men actually jumping in the air celebrating when another team (and im sure Oldham and Burnley had a fair rivalry when they were both in the same division didnt they?) save a penalty.

And as for the financing of the stadium, thats what would be one of the most prevalent thoughts in my mind, beleive me the last thing you want is to be mired in unsustainable debt, United are at that level now, some of the stories Ive heard this summer beggar belief for "the richest club in the world" (sic).

sounds like another condesending munich to55er to me, if people want to laugh at you getting beat by the relegation favourites then we will, people have theor reasons for hating the scum and people like you do nothing but add fuel to the fire

i think  sums it up adequately.

Dunno if you've noticed, but we've hardly been banging them in so far. We're living vicariously through others.

We can jump for joy whenever we want! If I'm watching a game that doesn't involve Latics I can choose to support the team of my choice, be that because i have a bit of money on the result or I prefere one team over the other, but it's always Latics first.

When i've backed a team at 11-1 and they are 1 nil up and save a penalty i think i've got every right to jump in the air,do a little dance or run around the pub with my shirt over my head if i want to.Especially if it happens to be against the"biggest club in the world".
