He says if Cardiff would have stayed at Ninion Park, they were destined to be a Championship/league 1 yo yo club, with a ground that could hold only 14000

The move to the new 27000 seater stadium, will allow them to push for Premier league status.

While very possibly agreeing with the sentiment, wasn't he the man who spent £2,000 a month on goldfish and destroyed the financial viability of an established Premiership Club who haven't quite managed the upward yo after their downward yo since?

Cardiff have a much larger number of fans who wil turn up if the club is doing well, and they have only moved across the road

Ninian Park needed up dating 15 years ago (when we played them in the cup and Holdsworth had a stormer) more than BP does now. Considering the Welsh FA are seriously considering moving some of Wales internationals there I doubt he regrets moving to a big stadium even if Cardiff weren't doing as well as they are. I would also imagine that it might be used to hold of of Cardiff's Rugby games (the big but not massive ones).

Plus Ninian Park had a lot of standing and I think the only reason why it still had a lot of standing at the end was because Cardiff were moving- if they weren't going to move the FA would have made them turn all the standing into seats- which would have proved quite costly.

In summary Risdale is talking out of his harris (as per) trying to make his business decisions look better.

That's why they are building a 27000 capacity ground. But the 16000 capacity stadium we were promised wasn't beyond us before it was decided to consign the club to permanent lower division status.

Where he is talking nonsense is in 'backing' the proposed Latics stadium, as if the respective ambitions of the two clubs are in any way similar.

its very interesting how 14000 seats wont work for were they want to be

but 12000 will work for us, to were we want to be :disappointed:

They want to be in the PL. Latics have decided to stay in the lower divisions. That's the difference. Even those who try to fool themselves into thinking that it isn't the case know, deep down, that it is.

decided to stay in lower divisions? why would you think that the owners of a football club would aim to bring the club down? so far as i can see the aim of TTA is to build a stable, profitable football club from this stable basis the club can then realistically aim for championship status in which case the stadium can be developed further.

Cardiff have a much larger number of fans who wil turn up if the club is doing well, and they have only moved across the road

And also no other competing clubs in the city. Additionally, if you are from Cardiff, you are not going to be supporting Swansea.

Max Min Avg

2004/5 17,006 10,007 12,976 16th

2005/6 16,403 8,724 11,720 11th

2006/7 20,109 11,549 15,223 13th

2007/8 18,840 11,006 13,937 12th

2008/9 20,156 15,902 18,044 7th

So far

22, 264 v Scunthorpe for the first match

20,853 for a derby v Bristol City in August.

To early to say but the previous year, it was 19,749 for the opener v Southampton, and 19,312 v Britsol City a month later.

So about 5% increase, and 7,000 empty seats.

Is Risdale repeating history and living beyond his means? In the current economic climate, he would not get the £50m he spent I predict.

If they are challenging for promotion they will fill the 27,000 seats.
