oafc0000
http://www.webuser.co.uk/news/top-stories/...ine-cup-success A first-round clash between Oldham Athletic and Leeds United, streamed live on TheFA.com, gathered 176,000 plays on Saturday evening. According to the FA, this is a UK record for a free-to-view competitive football match on the internet and is also believed to be among the top five live web sporting events in UK history. WOW! ghostofcecere
I didn't see any of the coverage as I was there; so out of interest was the coverage any good? What was the picture quality like? And the presenters? It didn't look like there were 50 camera's there like Sky have!

Picture quality was good enough for a 17" laptop and the feed stuttered to start with but was fine afterwards... Very happy with it overall... Zorrro
Picture quality was good enough for a 17" laptop... ...until you put it in full screen mode, at which point it started to resemble Tetris.

ghostofcecere
So do you reckon it was good enough that the FA will continue with this and cover some more FA Cup/England games?

It depends on the TV deals they sign but yeah, I would imagine so... I would watch a game like this again...

underdog
If only we could get a few of them down to BP we'd be laughin. Agreed, also if it would have been interesting too if the FA asked them either before/after the game who they actually support and where in the world they were watching it from. Analysis of our fan base and any logical reason why "bums where not on seats"....will the internet also kill off fans coming to games especailly if they have made the effort and travelled over a distance previously? I can only comment on what appeared on my screen.... I also get the NFL Gamepass service.... That was better... I have not used my Sky service online in a while but it seemed similar to that... It was fine for watching the game...it certainly was not tetras like...
Zorrro
Did you have it in full screen mode? It was pretty blocky... Not unwatchable, but I can't see many folk embracing it unless the quality gets a lot better.
Diego_Sideburns
It was fine for watching the game... It was raining for watching the game where I was, but I didn't get wet in the Chaddy.
outoftheblue
One camera... A reasonable commentator (nothing special).. Picture quality was good enough for a 17" laptop and the feed stuttered to start with but was fine afterwards... Very happy with it overall... At least two cameras, as in one shot the camera panned on another camera. The commentary was pretty informative and well researched (But sadly missing Roy Butterworths opinions ). The picture was ok on a high spec pc, with no lag etc. but I did wonder how any lower spec machines were coping, as it was a million miles from HD. Not enough microphones - there was no atmosphere. Great idea. I'd watch regular live games - keeps me off the porn.......

outoftheblue
C'est impossible. Pah! I've reduced the amount of erotica I view by at least 50% this year. I don't even look in the lingerie section of the Grattan catalogue anymore. My psychiatrist reckons I've made a huge improvement and I'm no longer considered sex-obsessed (Not sure what her exact words were, as I was busy trying to look up her skirt at the time).
