No, no, no, nooooo. It's horrible! Who put's cinnamon on pizza??? :pizza::sick01:

And don't even bother with the kebabs on 'nan' (flatbread made with flour and water!). :sick01: :sick01:

Is there anywhere that does more than one style of takeaway and doesn't ruin them all? Fish and chips/pizza/kebab - pick one and do it right!

The obvious exception of York's donner pizzas applies of course! :pizza:

Just to answer your initial question, including not wanting to trek to Manchester - The chinese - Happy gathering in Royton, is pretty decent value and ok and just a bit further up the road are the normal 'pre/post' match pubs of Old grey mare and white hart, before venturing down to the carters and on into Royton, where you will find a few more pubs and your said chinese. All those pubs mentioned will be and are fine saturday nights, with entertainment in both on Sat Eve and decent crowds of people in. Rochdale Road, where the pubs are on and the restaurant just off is the main link road also between Rochdale and Oldham - therefore in between ish.

Either way - Enjoy your day trip up here.

Ditto. Far and away the most consistently good chinese for miles around. Small place, a bit on the cozy side but there's a decent sized overspill upstairs (that tends to get used most nights due to them nearly always being busy....always a good sign). Rochdale for a night out is....well, pretty quiet these days. Most of the clubs have closed but if you head into the centre of town there are a few half decent late night bars clustered together. Certainly not as dangerous as Oldham can be....and like most people acknowledge, it's more a case of those that want trouble will certainly find it....but otherwise, it's generally quite safe.

Do you think the owners should make a statement of intent to their rivals and go for larger premises or remain perennially in the lower league chinese...

Thanks for the ideas guys - the point about manchester is by the time we have a few post match drinks it will be seven ish at the earliest and it might just be too late to trek all the way into town! Are those two pubs the best to go in pre/post match? Last year we went in the brewers fayre thing next to the premier inn behind the chaddy road end (?)

Sevenish too late ? I don't normally head out until eight :) I wouldn't say its too late to head to Manchester. Its only about 20/30 mins from Oldham in a taxi depending on traffic.

Good point...always been a believer in 'the product', if good enough bringing in the punters......there's a humongous Chinese in Rochdale town centre (used to be Chicago Rock) where the decor is pretty spectacular......pretty much always empty. (Could probably seat 12,000 for a good cup tie though  )

I think that the wish of the Chinese to play within their own Leagues rather than integrating shows the failure of multi-culturalism.
