I recall that immediately being followed by a swelling of ST sales and "the best football at BP since the Royle era".

I was taking a lot of drugs in those days, however.

Indeed you were...we played that football for 3 months...the rest was average along with the fingertips clinging onto 6th place vs Chesterfield at the end of season 1...

As Zorro states...June 1st 2006 was when it all began!

BP is not owned by Oldham Athletic (2004) Ltd. though...

Indeed...Asset stripped...

Worse than what JWLees or Moore did...the one thing every club in the land fears...just because we had the promise of something shiny and new, everyone went with it. Bar a few descenters...where are we now???

Same happened when Chris Moore strolled in and nobody wanted to listen to SAFEs concern as hey, there's a promise of a never-ending chequebook.

Where we are now is another plan ripped up on the floor and this time NO LAND!!! (Unless Corney comes out with a Plan B.) No saleable asset or safety net...this will be TTA's money recouped once they've sold it and BP is an estate and flats etc.

So you lot keep on thanking them for putting money in for no reward. The only way they have done this is if they hand the land from Brassbank back over to OAFC...think they'll do that? Nah...didn't think so...

Worried? You bet...have been for a long, long time...

I'm in agreement with you on everything there BB - But I will thank them for putting their money in - because they WERE our only option at the time and they DID clear the previous debt and back the managers with further funds - which have all proved unsucessful - though unfortunately they have now gone to try and re-coup some of their losses by selling OUR ground and subsequent land - their perogative.

Either way, we have no debt, are (short term) unlikely to go into administration, and need a backer bloody quick!! (to buy a club with little/no assets!) The truth is out there.

I hate to break it to you BB80 but, for the 21st century Oldham Athletic, 06/07 was an above average season.

Like last time?

That aside, sensational.

So to summarise, if everyone listened to you in the first place, we would have been sunning ourselves in the Championship with a new stadium. So would you have said to Chris Moore "no, go away, we don't want your money"?

Simon Corney is doing an interview for the website today or tomorrow which will update fans and hopefully answer some of the questions left unanswered.

Last time? Ah, you mean because the council owned the land? Yes, true but the deal in place was for it to be sold back to OAFC for the same price for X years. We were protected. Once they bought it under OAFC and whipped it off into Brassbank (for Tax reasons etc people like to suggest) our land was effectively gone...let's see what happens now. Yes, I knew it would be a land deal. Yes, I believed if they couldn't make it happen that they'd stick around and see us safely into new ownership. If this paves the way for looking for a buyer, then I'd like it on the OS and everywhere else. But that land has to be part of it...or else we've nothing saleable...we did back in 2003 as that land was part of the package in getting it off the council.

I agree with Futcher and B_Teets about them being the only ones to take us on. As you'll find above, I thank them for their early days. Since the apathy set in however, they've starved the club commercially, played the fans against one another with the Failsworth "dream" and took out the heart we had left. I expected the end to be a sale of sorts...to someone admittedly with less money, but prepared to give it a go. Not this statement of severing ties. It leaves so many questions which I doubt we'll get answers to. A bit like a lot of their tenure.

They've been as clear as mud!

Nope, not at all. Plans were to sit down and talk with him, his ideas, offer assistance etc. Be the link to fans about what direction the club wanted to go. Every meeting arranged either got cancelled or got Bob Telfer (deceased) who was his wing man. The more contact and openess was desired, the further away it went. Even Sean Jarvis was getting the treatment as he wanted to help us be the bridge to fans. There were lots of alarms going off back then just nobody was interested. Anyhooo...

Presumably BP, and for that matter the Lancaster Club site, is still owned by Brass Bank Ltd. According to company records the 2 directors are Danny Gazal and Simon Blitz. Are they planning to sell up, or stay a silent owners - a bit like JW Lees in their final years?

As for upgrading BP, planning permission lasts 5 years, but the club would still need about £5m to build a half decent (new) main stand to replace the old Lookers stand.

The one amigo, or TOA, doesn't have the same ring to it!

We need more information please!

Don't panic . . . . . . . . . . yet!
