oafc0000
What a time to waste millions on a state wedding... No doubt the flag waving morons who were moaning about MPs wasting public money and shouting for cuts to benefits will be happy I think it's a terrific idea. I hope he's chosen better than his father did first time round, and that she doesn't become west London's town slapper like his mother. Seriously, I hope they're happy. I wish them all the best. A nation rejoices at happy news. Hip hip hooray.

Stitch_KTF
What a time to waste millions on a state wedding... No doubt the flag waving morons who were moaning about MPs wasting public money and shouting for cuts to benefits will be happy Whatever it costs will be dwarfed by interest paid on the national debt during the church ceromony alone (probably). Regarding cuts to benefits, that show on channel 4 the other night stated twice that our annual welfare bill exceeds our entire annual income tax revenue. Yard Dog
Cameron said 'it is a great day for the country'............. Really ? Who gives a :censored:. I remember marching around Shaw with my class on some mad school parade when Fergie married Andrew (?). Best thing about that day was the free box of commemoration pens and plastic mini Union flags we were each given. I used to love the monarchy, and do still appreciate the monarchy's influence in the history of our country. I applaud the many good things they do, particulary for charity. And I think Prince Charles is a well safe guy - does some very good stuff, innit. But they have had their day and need to be :censored:ed off. oafc0000
You cynical old gits.... This will be the first royal wedding in my lifetime and whilst lots wrong with system its something every other country is jealous of. On that basis good luck to them and hope all is ok. You all go into work on the day and I will have the day off thanks....Oh I forgot I am a student they are all days off. Personally I find it more offensive that a "pig" has been removed from a kiddies toy set "animals" for fear of upsetting muslim community...TOSH.... I just don't see the benefit of spending so much money on them... Used to think differently when I was younger... Then I grew up...

rudemedic
a real waste of tax [ payers money i will give them 4 years then they will split No offence Bob, but 1.) when was the last time you paid British tax? 2.) It won't be as expensive as the funding/bail-out/support/ we give to Isreal. I don't mind the monarchy, as they will bring more money in than they themselves take out. However, to have a tax funded royal-wedding in the current financial climate is a joke. The cuts are already going to be bad now we have a multi-million pound wedding to pay for. If she's waited this long she can at least wait until the economy recovers.
leeslover
I reckon they could put a decent show together with freely supplied stuff. I guess the cost of policing and so on is similar to other state events. It will earn some private companies money, and increase tax revenue for some parts of government, at some cost. I don't approve, I then I don't in any other venture when the government speculates that it can invest our money more wisely than we can. As for the happy couple themselves, I couldn't give a monkeys. There are just other people in the world I care about before them.
24hoursfromtulsehill
The weirdest thing Cameron said today was that he slept on the Mall so he could celebrate Charles and Diana's wedding. Does anyone believe that? Everyone's so stoked with the news that they haven't attempted to corroborate Cameron's version of events. That story will be much worse if it's true. I always wondered who those people waving the flags lived and what they did with their lives - and now we know. But what for? Precisely why would anyone do such a thing? Is there an anthropological explanation? Is it to do with sex? The fact that people feel good about this announcement is not in itself an explanation of its mysterious appeal. The cost is neither here nor there. The whole thing is just pure weird.

Does anyone believe that? I saw this in the paper on the way home. I did strike me that only the more, "outre," type of 15 year old Conservative would have done such a thing. Still, I am sure he left any student japes he may have been involved in long in the past.

Nothing more, nothing less, no mad mullahs or rabid rabbis pounding on their door demanding the farmyard animal taking out of the no doubt chipped and tatty nativity set. For hundreds of years people in this country have gone about their way, minding their own business, not offending people, not getting :censored:off tattooed across their face. It used to be a well respected trait of the British, now it is just another stick for the Daily Mail to peddle their vile paper.
