maddog
How's he figure that they're competing with Burnley from a division below? Hah. Guess he means Preston. There's a lot of shouldawouldacoulda and ifs, ands and buts in that interview. What a load of bollocks.
rudemedic
I think its because they played Burnley in the Carling cup recently, but it doesn't read that way
deyres42
Amuses me how they always try to paint themselves as this hard-up club punching well above their weight while at the same time signing the likes of Clinton Morrison and McNamee. slystallone
Amuses me how they always try to paint themselves as this hard-up club punching well above their weight while at the same time signing the likes of Clinton Morrison and McNamee. That Pete Winkleman is the sporn of the devil - what a horrible little man he is. I think it's been brilliant for true football fans to watch with real pride & joy the rise up the leagues of the true 'Dons' side, and I really hope that they continue to grow so that one day; they can leap over the MKMongs and 'take back what is there's' if you know what I mean. Horrible side, horrible "history" of how they came to be, horrible fans from my experience of meeting them* and they are led by a guy who every time I see him in the media makes me cringe in Karl Robinson. I look forward to beating them on Monday night. .* What were the MK fans doing last season, when our kid choir in the RRE sang 'you've got no history' they started to sing Wimbledon songs? They've no right to do that, that isn't their team, never has been since Winkleman ripped up the rule book and moved a team 80 miles away with a different name……..they have history - it's just very short and limited only to when they formed as MK Dons, and certainly does not include anything that Wimbledon achieved…. The single worst club in all the land. MK Dons. Bringers of Franchise, killers of soul, awful. +1 Edited October 6, 2011 by slystallone

Bristolatic
Without doubt, the most hateful and detestable outfit ever to disgrace a football pitch. How you can stick two fingers up at loyal supporters and say "Stuff you lot, we're off to play at the concrete jungle" is beyond any right thinking man's (or woman's) comprehension. As for Mr Wankerman or whatever his name is, what a greasy slimeball. How I wish and dream they would slide uncontrollably out of the football league, through the two Blue Square trapdoors and into oblivion for ever to be replaced by AFC Wimbledon, who deserve every success having risen from the ashes. My only other hope is that they will meet each other as the Dongs slide and AFC climb with the latter giving the former a bloody good battering. You may gather I don't like the Dongs very much, but I would chuckle at the sight of them playing in a 20,000+ stadium in front of about 50 people in the Isthmian League. And that's too good for them. Edited October 7, 2011 by Bristolatic

oldhamandy1
One of only two clubs in this country i'd actually enjoy seeing go bust. Who's the other? I have mixed feeling about MK Dons, i really dislike Winkleman. He looks like the childcatcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang by the way, Karl Robinson and John Gorman are two guys who come across as prober football men. jimsleftfoot
I really don't see the point in hating them if i'm honest. Don't like them indeed, but hate them, whats the point. As for K Rob's quotes - odd. As underwelming as it may be, I bet he won't say the same if he's in that position come May. Can't agree with you there. The ridiculous amount of money thrown at the top flight, resulting in young men becoming millionaires almost overnight, is what's wrong with modern football. Oh, and over-the-top reactions to 'tasty' challenges. It's a man's game, you tart! Get up!

Oh, and over-the-top reactions to 'tasty' challenges. It's a man's game, you tart! Get up! There's a fairly strong argument to be made justifying that though. There's no argument to be made for 'relocating' a club 60 miles away, and screwing over thousands of fans in the process. They're maybe not everything that's wrong with football, but they do emphasise the increasing lack of importance football fans have... JonesyOAFC
I'm keen to hear it. Entertainment industry. Everytime they play, there's millions of people watching them. Actors and musicians their age earn similar amounts, but nobody ever complains about that. Why's it different for footballers?

So applying the same logic to Mk Dongs, the ground move makes complete sense. No one would complain if you were to close down a failing music venue and re-open somewhere else, why's it different for football teams?
