cabjones
Has anyone got any video footage of the goal (that never counted) against united in the 1990 semi? Can't seem to find it anywhere.

Has anyone got any video footage of the goal (that never counted) against united in the 1990 semi? Can't seem to find it anywhere. Reporter on Fox Sports here in Oz just referred to "the late goal by Mark Robins in the FA Cup semi-final replay that saw off OXFORD UNITED". Prat. BristolOwl
Royle played down the lost goal, but it has turned out to be historic. We would of course with a win have got to our first FA cup final, but the larger significance was and is that if United had lost Chairman Edwards would have sacked Fergie, in his fifth year without a medal for the mid-table team. It's nearly as bad as 1914/15 when we needed one point from the last two games, both at home, to win the Division 1 title. Of course, we lost them both. AndyGortonsMatches
Be careful young sir, Fergie demanded all copies of that to be burned. Godspeed! A 'goal' that could have easily cut Fergies reign to 3 1/2 years instead of 27. And saved us from all the gushing praise being spouted all day today. longtimeblue
It's recently been publicised he'd already been told his job was safe despite ours/Palace's result. We'll never know
dobxal
Heard from an ex latics manager that mike england had already been approached should united not have won the fa cup that season.
stargazer
Not only Henry's 'goal' , but in the first game Ricky Holden put a 20 yarder just wide with no time left .....if only.
lookersstandandy
Don't get me started on Graeme Sharp's golden opportunity to put us 2-0 up in the 1994 game at Wembley either. They hadn't won a double till that point. Mark f&@£ing Hughes! I was delighted when he got sacked from QPR!
oafcmetty
It's nearly as bad as 1914/15 when we needed one point from the last two games, both at home, to win the Division 1 title. Of course, we lost them both. Not sure that's right. With two left the table looked like: 1. Everton P37 Pts45 2. Oldham P36 Pts45 So we needed 3 points (remember 2 for a win) from those last two games to win the league (and we had an inferior goal average). Interestingly, we played both our games before Everton played their final game, which they only drew - so a win in either game might have given us the league (although if they'd have needed the win, they'd probably have tried harder). TH2002
Went to a Sportsmans Dinner where Big Joe was the speaker the other week and he mentioned that both 1990 Semi Finals were expertly refereed....by Bryan Robson.
Diego_Sideburns
Went to a Sportsmans Dinner where Big Joe was the speaker the other week and he mentioned that both 1990 Semi Finals were expertly refereed....by Bryan Robson. In his autobiography Joe Royle says: It was our opinion, after the 3-3 draw, that referee Joe Worrall had listened a bit too much to Byan Robson. He also says 1990 semi-final replay referee Joe Worrall was a United supporter.
lookersstandandy
Worrall's brother was a season ticket holder at the swamp. Wouldn't be allowed today!
