  1. We do have something of a bandwagon starting up though. I'm going to the Southport match with two Man City fans and a West Brom fan, all of whom are taking a big interest in Frank's revolution, they came to a few games last season too
  2. I've just bought 4 tickets for the Southport game, what an absolute faff. Southport's fault, not Latics. I had to set up an account with them, then give them the names and dates of birth of all my party. Absolutely ridiculous and way over the top.
  3. The debate on 3 up/3 down has started... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/65596135 It would be handy to have it in place for next season.
  4. If we'd done a bit more time wasting at Wembley in 1994 though we'd probably have won the FA Cup.
  5. The day still hasn't yet arrived when I'm not excited by the signing of a new striker. But unless Unsworth starts to play a formation that gives the strikers a chance we might as well have signed Martin Nuttall as Joe Nuttall.
  6. According to Wikipedia he's got a first class degree in actuarial sciences from the University of Essex, he must have something about him.
  7. Cheers, that's fair enough. Thanks for the update.
  8. And the food outlet in the Main Stand paddock RRE was closed yesterday for some reason that nobody seemed able to explain.
  9. If the unthinkable happens and we are relegated yet again, this time I really would fancy us to bounce straight back. I can't see us going part time like Stockport did, with our resources and things hopefully continuing to improve off the pitch I think we'd have too much for NLN.
  10. Does anybody know if anyone from the club reads these comments? I'd love to know if the message is getting through.
  11. Unsworth would never have been my choice and I said when he was appointed that it was a big step up for him from coaching kids to managing in a proper league. I felt that JR must know enough about him to feel that he was up to it, but it's clearly not working. I fully accept that the squad is badly lacking and we've also been unlucky with injuries (why do we get so many injuries??), but from day one he's gone back on his promise of going out to win matches by constantly serving up this ultra defensive crap. Something better change quickly, either a complete change of tactics or some proper investment in the team (preferably both), but at the moment i can't see either happening and I fear my misgivings about him are coming true.
  12. I've just been on BBC Radio Surrey via a different link and they're covering the Queen's coffin procession through London. Edit... got the match commentary now, it must be one of those split frequency things.
  13. Could someone please give me a clue what the score was today, I assume it wasn't good but the website is still showing a 0-0 draw...
  14. Anyone else thinking of wearing a cap to the Torquay and subsequent games?? If it became a trend it would (1) show support for our new owner and (2) really piss Mo off (if he's still interested)
  15. A decent workout tonight, although I was near Shez and TW too and, as Daniel says, they weren't very happy. They're setting high standards though, probably higher than some of them are used to, so there's no harm in that. Porter took his goal well, it was a proper striker's goal... the sort we've been badly missing of late.
  16. Greg Fleming currently having a blinder for Stranraer, keeping them in the game v Hibernian. I always thought he was a decent keeper, he never really got much chance here.
  17. Yes, I think I'd definitely include Rick Holden in that, Stainrod certainly. Maybe even David Eyres... if the definition of maverick is being your own man and a desire to entertain I think Eyresey would count.
  18. Mavericity is just what the game needs more of right now . You're absolutely right though, any kid showing any kind of individuality would soon have it coached out of them these days, unfortunately.
  19. Maverick... that's the word. I doubt we'll see the likes again.
  20. Yes, he was class - I seem to remember him shooting from everywhere, he was great entertainment that night and there were a lot of calls for us to sign him.
  21. Sad to see that Frank Worthington passed away today, a real character from a bygone age and some player too - any kids with the kind of flair and flamboyancy he had would soon find it coached out of them these days. I suppose it's stretching it a bit to call him an ex-player, but I remember him turning out for us in Jimmy Frizzell's testimonial so I think he just about counts . He was a big mate of Joe's and was often spotted outside the ground on matchdays wearing his cowboy hat . RIP
