  1. You'd think the same conversation will be had with Nuttall and Willoughby on their return from loan. That could be 7 of the retained 19 on their way and opening up the possibility of decent recruitment- even if one or two of the out of contract lot are invited back as squad fillers
  2. Not having a go at Suzanne, but that article is just ifs, buts and maybes. Pure rumour and speculation without a single quote from anybody, such as manager or CEO.
  3. I'm surprised Suzanne at the OT hasn't asked proper questions of the club instead of just copying and pasting the piece and merely raising doubts on line.
  4. Been saying for ages that we can't sort out the mess in one transfer window. MM can only hope he can wheel and deal to fill the glaring gaps in the squad. Hopefully, a better balanced squad can have us in contention again. We weren't a million miles off and 4 or 5 of the right calibre and mindset might make a big difference
  5. Thought Kofi Moore's deal was due to end this summer. Don't recall any announcements about an extension or new deal. Looked like a rabbit in the headlights on his brief senior appearance but MM seems to think he is a prospect so good luck to the lad.
  6. Not necessarily. There's still scope to transfer/loan out/swop some of those under contract
  7. But roundly criticised by Cheltenham fans prior to that. He is that infuriating sort. Capable of a good display but nowhere near consistently
  8. I can't help feeling that we will sell or swop one our CBs - Hobson maybe
  9. Pete Wild's Barrow in danger of doing a Latics. One win, one draw in last 7 games to slip out of play-off places
  10. You get some pelters on here PeteG - and I don't care who you are, or who people think you are - but this post about proper recruitment is spot on.
  11. Suspect that signing to a plan is precisely what he will hope to do. 4-3-3 was my suggestion but he has played several permutations over the years. Being flexible is handy but, as you say, deciding on the regular formation and recruiting accordingly is crucial.
  12. A lot will depend on how we plan to set up next season. Think we need pacy wide forwards alongside the likes of Fondop (if still here) or Garner, if we lean towards a 4-3-3.
  13. It was ever thus. They were last season when they went 10 without a win, but still made play-offs. Patience is a virtue that many fans don't have.
  14. Me too. Think you're right about neutrals. IIRC quite a few City fans there.
  15. He's not likely to admit it to his own fans though
  16. Remember it well LaticsMark. Was only talking about it with my eldest lad a couple of months ago.
  17. Paul Cook addressing Chesterfield supporters at promotion celebrations "...we need each other and we should always be there for each other when times aren't so good. There will be dark days ahead, when those dark times come make sure we stay together strong. "I think the National League is so much tougher than people will know. Every game is really hard, especially when you are the biggest club in the division. Everybody wants to beat you." Perhaps some of our fans should take note.
  18. Didn't you previously mention the likes of Jeff King, Ash Palmer, Paul Lewis? They would fit the bill, but we also badly need pace and pressing ability in the middle and up top.
  19. Not stopped the likes of Solihull, Gateshead, Halifax, Bromley, etc, who must all have lower revenues. It's not always what you earn, but how you spend it.
  20. Believe I'm right in saying there is no salary cap or FFP in the National League.
