  1. On a reduced budget I can't see us having , or needing, more than 3 keepers (one out on loan with recall clause) and 22 outfield players. If we get rid of the 10 out of contract we still have 18 under contract ( 2 keepers). Don't think that leaves a lot of wriggle room so we'll need to shift a fair few somehow to create space for quality. I'd be looking at Shelton, Ward, Willoughby, Nuttall and Reid for sure. And I'd still have doubts over Lundstram, Sheron and Kitch.
  2. Glossop, you're a cock eyed optimist. I'm getting one in the hope that Oldhamer Brian Cox can persuade the club to change the player entrance tune to "Things can only get better"
  3. Object all you like but if the league have the final say you have to get on with it.
  4. Hobson might be worth a small fee, even Sutton,.
  5. Exactly what me and son are doing. Stuff the lot of 'em
  6. Still don't know why Halifax, or their fans, would be dancing with glee at having three home games rearranged away cos the local council have failed to maintain the pitch.
  7. Why? Fax have to play Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday lunchtime.
  8. Was hoping you would do the decent thing and let us have Morris and Hawkes but believe they have agreed another year! Not sure who is out of contract but we seem to have been linked with Dan Pike. I'd prefer O'connor. Would Paul Lewis do us a job?
  9. Think it's going to take a large chunk of the budget to clear the decks for next season-- but it has simply got to be done, whether or not MM is here. Too many players have proved they can't hack it at this club. If they stay they will drag down this manager and the next, and the next.
  10. Sheringham the answer. 37 when hattrick for Pompey v Bolton, 2003
  11. Paul Cook (Chesterfield) is 57, Phil Parkinson (Wrexham) is 56. Terrible these ageing dinosaurs. Neither could be described as tactical innovators but, after being given time, got promotion.
  12. Gateshead in a worse position than Halifax. They are already due to play this Thursday now have another game to fit in.
  13. Imagine the state of that shit tip if the do manage to play Saturday and Tuesday.
  14. They've got Barnet on Saturday and Ebbsfleet on Tuesday, as well as us, to play on that cabbage patch before the season ends a week on Saturday. Good luck with that!! The weather doesn't sound great for the next week.
  15. We seem to have started a new scheme with open trials for teens who have not been picked up by other academies, or have been let go. Not ideal, but a few of those plus the eight or so seniors not in the matchday squad ought to be enough. Think Barrow do something similar.
  16. Not sure that "our pitch is shit and the Council don't maintain it" is mitigating circumstances. After several postponements this season ( 8 I think) at what stage do you say it is undermining the integrity of the league and hand out fines and or points deductions?
  17. Without an academy a B team/development team becomes an absolute must. Players not involved in the matchday squad and young prospects picked up from academies at bigger clubs (think Hammond types) getting regular game time
  18. If MM was happy, all smiley and carefree after watching his players throw away play-off chances then fans would go mad at him. Some are trying the old amateur psychology crap again (think Norwood) and making mountains out of molehills.
  19. A younger coach would still have to sort out the squad problems and recruitment. At least MM has the experience and knowhow
  20. No. Think he is already planning for next season.
  21. His record at Fleetwood, Shrewsbury and Tranmere suggests it takes him a season to turn things round then success follows. He will certainly have had his eyes opened here in the last six months and will know what is required. I'm happy for him to be given the chance to deliver. Like any other manager, if doesn't he is gone.
  22. Remember Marc White (Dorking) saying that numerically Latics had great support but, and I paraphrase, they are a fickle lot who soon turn - making it less daunting for visiting teams. Oh, and he forecast we would finish 8th. I 'm not part of the Marc White fan club, but he may have a point!
  23. You can't seriously tell me that an experienced manager has not had Halifax scouted more than once, has not done video analysis or, by this stage of the season, worked out their preferred formation and their Plan B. As for players changing, it happens all the time with injury, suspension, loss of form. Doesn't mean the system will change drastically. We won't know until an hour before KO how they are lining up - and vice versa - but the general principles will not have changed out of all recognition. And I bet both managers say don't worry about them, concentrate on what we want to do.
  24. Don't think there is anything wrong with having the nous of experienced forwards, preferably not as a starting pair, but we're crying out for pace and running power alongside- - as Stones showed. Bottom line though is more midfield control/creativity
  25. Grealish and Doku took Villa apart last night
