  1. Remember the good old days when we all moaned at a lack of continuity and constant summer rebuilds due to short contracts/loans? Now we can't wait to get rid of half of them because recruitment has been scattergun and bizarre (Windass anyone?). By my reckoning we have 18 players contracted beyond this summer. MM probably needs to somehow shift six or seven of them, together with the vast majority of those whose deals are up, to be able to rebalance and strengthen the squad.
  2. But we're still left with a squad of players without real pace who can't play pass and move, simple, precise football.
  3. It's going to take more than six months to give this team what it lacks - pace, precision, poise, a sense of purpose and above all pride. Nobody in defence or especially midfield seems comfortable in possession. Take out the glimpses of Green and Dallas and there is nobody with pace to trouble the opposition. We are pedestrian and predictable. Recruitment for the last 2 years has, on the whole, been dreadful. Imagine if instead of blowing 100k on Nuttall we had forked out for Haughton (a proper link-up 10 and scorer) plus Conn Clarke, an attacking midfielder with goals. And that's just 2 who spring to mind instead of our bunch of run hard headless chickens. Until we can control possession, pass and move, we are going nowhere. A big summer beckons
  4. Not when Norwood 4, Conlon, Raglan and Fondop adds up to 7 goals in 6-0 win
  5. And we're still cheaper than most clubs, as I've found on my infrequent travels this season.
  6. It's a new escape route from the stand for when the game is shite
  7. Yes, it would be stupid to keep all the CBs. Rather we give Hogan 12 months and sign a proper DM instead of McGahey. And a proper RB/RWB is even more of a priority.
  8. Cost me £18 for concessionary at Halifax - and similar at other away games this season - so our £15 POTD next season will certainly be among the cheapest again. Season ticket obviously makes it even better value. Just hope our summer recruitment justifies the outlay!
  9. Just reading that Chesterfield have scored 34 goals this season from corners and free kicks.
  10. Exactly my point on another thread SJ. Chesterfield midfielders/wingers: Taylor 12, Dobra 10, Banks 8, Mandeville 7, Colclough 7, Berry 6, Jacobs 5. CBs: Grimes 4, Palmer 3.
  11. You might get your wish of a dozen leaving, Oafc1955. If I am right, the following are out of contract/end of loan Langley, Sachdev, Hogan, McGahey, Couto, L Chapman, F Cookson, Tollitt, Gardner, Dickenson, Walker, Windass, K Moore, Hope, Fondop, Dallas and Green (has 1 year option). That's before you look at the contracted surplus to requirements who might be moved on. Even allowing for a few youngsters getting pro deals, there should be scope for a much-needed squad rejig.
  12. If Chesterfield are the yardstick, their goals from midfield include Naylor 12, Dobra 10, Banks 8, Colclough 7, Berry 6. This - and the above supply line to Grigg/Quigley - show the huge problem in our squad. Lack of creativity and goals from midfield. Be nice if our defenders could chip in from set pieces as well
  13. Chesterfield have previously tried to sign Dallas and will be well aware of Norwood's ability. Doubt they would rely solely on what I agree was an indifferent day for them at BP. Do you not think they could play L2? That was my point.
  14. Every striker needs service- and I don't give a toss what they look like, or what our psychologists in the stands think of their body language.
  15. He walks into every team in this division - and most, if not all - of the division above. Chesterfield assistant boss heaped praise on him and Dallas. Wouldn't mind betting they would fancy the pair of them in L2, even with Grigg still on their books.
  16. Most clubs will have a squad around 24 strong so still scope there for us, although I agree that MM would probably like to shift a few of our existing group if possible, thus increasing scope for change.
  17. Yep. The bare bones. Need two FB/WBs, two CMs who are comfortable on the ball, two wingers and, if Dallas doesn't join, a forward like Josh Stones. And, if there is any rent left, a left-sided CB wouldn't go amiss. Not much to do in the summer then!!
  18. Some illness in the camp according to MM so line-up will be interesting
  19. May be wrong but can't think of many, if any, keepers this season who have consistently looked to get rid early. Perhaps it's a modern coaching thing.
  20. Don't disagree that we, and MM, would have expected more clean sheets. Just don't think Hudson is especially at fault. Lack of midfield control puts defence under pressure and there have been numerous individual errors at the back - not picking up runners, slack marking, etc. Overall though our record has not been dreadful. 50 in 39 better than most. 17 came in 5 games if you throw Rochdale into the ones I mentioned earlier. Yes, we should be better but I still think Hudson is the least of our worries.
