Not like any other football manager has done the same. Perhaps we should’ve stuck with Rooney and his shocking attitude which would’ve gone down well with the rest of the squad, and played Timmy No Goals instead.

From being to all except the Barrow friendly pre-season, Ward looks like he’s no central midfielder, though likes to cut inside on his right and play more narrow than an out and out winger.

I think DU is happy with Couto as back up.

Interesting to hear DU wants 3 more signings in. Safe to say one is a right back and one a winger. Wondering where else he wants bolstering.

1 right back needed as we have cover there. We’re not getting another central midfielder unless Gardner is leaving. Agree re the need for a winger.

Reid, Fondop, Tollet look lively so far. Hudson had to make a few good saves as they’ve carved us open several times, especially the right winger Hazelwood. Get him in on trial, he looks a cracker!

I think we can put this one to bed now.

Nice goal from Green. Was happy to see him score after being scythed down twice in the first 10 minutes. An obvious tactic from Southport’s manager who had him there previously.

I also thought Nuttall did well (before getting himself sent off!), coming deep and laying balls off to others, and seemingly playing with a bit more confidence taking shots on, hitting the crossbar with one.

Decent showings as well from Lundstram, Willoughby, and Hogan IMO.

He looked a bit lost there to be honest. Hogan kept barking at him to get back into position. Was worth looking at, first pre-season game and all that. 
I was impressed with Lundstram, I think he’ll do well alongside Sheron when we play 2 in the middle.

With DU hinting at a preferred 4-3-3 formation, I’d imagine Reid on the left and Willoughby on the right side of Nuttall to begin with.
