  1. About Lambert's piledriver - well struck but looked saveable. Croosley went down too late to stop the shot, which was hit low. Norm gesticulating to imply he was unsighted. Second goal - poor marking at the edge of box for a corner, which was flicked on to far post (no marker), free shot from 3 yards.
  2. Last season's 3-0 debacle wasn't pretty. with Greegs in midfield and Taylor getting an earful from their fans.
  3. Their second goal seems like ones we conceded at Stockport - corner, flicked on, drilled from 6 yards under a despairing dive of a defender.
  4. But there's little you can do about a 35-yard piledriver.
  5. The Merlin near the weird roundabout on Drove Road (away friendly, maybe 10 minutes' walk to the ground), or the county cricket pavillion bar (you can park there too for around £5; next to the Arkells stand for away fans, so very handy - you walk between hedges from the cricket ground and come out right outside the stand!)
  6. Who lives the closest? Maybe Allott (Middleton) Taylor (Lees) Hughes (Dobcross) Deano? Eards? Aless? Wolfie?
  7. I've flown on a flight with the entire ManU first team and Fergie, and I spoke to him as I passed him in the aisle!
  8. Hughes (if fit) and Ormerod definite starters for me. He hasn't had a first team game this season but has kept himself fit and sharp, scoring a brace in the stiffs last week. Even less than fully match-fit Brett is much more of a threat than fit and industrious Craig. And bit of an unknown for Leicester spies! Criag on the bench, to come on for Brett when he has done his job - scoring. Hughes replaced by Aless with 20 minutes left, if we're leading by 2 goals or more. Same midfield. Gregan and Eards to come in for defence.
  9. Wales unlucky not to go into extra time. Eardley did well and injury free. Definite starter for Saturday
  10. What with all the excitement of 4-0 drubbing of Hereford and signing of Brett Ormerod, let's not forget our own internatonal Neil Eardley as he tries to lead his Welsh team to a surprising victory over England. Setanta Sports One.
  11. Latics World interview with Brett: 'I don't expect to walk straight into the team after their terrific win.' So sounds as though no promise has been made about him starting on Saturday?
  12. £85k after a tribunal I think. TTA didn't want to pay but Shez wanted him, so they paid!
  13. Two ex-Premiership strikers will scare sh*t out of League 1 defenders!
  14. No fracture found. Being assessed by Latics medical staff, according to fishul site.
  15. Interviewer: You did very well with loan system last season. Are you working on that at the moment? Graham Turner: Unfortunately we can't take another 11 players.
  16. Sure, they can pass the ball around neatly and get into good positions. but can't finish (like a lot of teams at this level). Defensively, the less said about them the better. Can't close down players, leave wide open space for opposition to explore and a dodgy keeper.
