  1. Virgin Media entered into a commercial agreement with the Football League to show highlights of Championship, L1 and L2 games on broadband and mobile, and highlights available through their website for approx one week after transmission. The agreement lasts for two years from 2007-8 season and some of the money will be distributed to member clubs. So Latics are getting a cut, but I don't know how much. Almost all league websites, and highlights, interviews and commentaries under 'World' umbrella are run by the commercial arm of the League under their subsidiary Premium TV.
  2. Eardlley now allowed to join the Welsh squad after the Donny game on Monday. Fishul site: http://www.oldhamathletic.premiumtv.co.uk/...1268134,00.html
  3. Lewis was walking disconsolately around the perimeter with hands in pocket. But Shez thinks he might be ok for Saturday. Allott we don't know. There's a chance he might be back for Easter. Hughes has had a setback and is seeing a specialist. Davies said he was still a couple of weeks away. Gregan played 45 min for the reserves and is set to do again this week, so hope will be in contention for the weekend. Thompson played well when coming on as sub and will probably start against Millwall.
  4. Quite a lot of street parking available past the ground and the bridge over the dual carriageway (Hatters Way).
  5. I will be there too - sad to be missing the Fylde Derby
  6. No, they are very professional. To the extend that they don't even celebrate a home goal, except with a polite applause.
  7. 1. I remember getting nearly lost on Barlow's coach once (not a rare occurence!) 2. Well, you enter an alleyway between two terraced houses. 3. Away turnstles are at the end of the said alleyway. 4. Yes, legroom is tight but not impossibly so - perhaps similar to behind the director's box on our main stand.
  8. I thought there was a good atmosphere in the away end. We never play well at Vale so it used to be very flat, but we did make quite a lot of noise and acoustics helped us. Plus the abysmal home support of less than 3000 who never got behind their team even when they were pressing us for a large part of second half. OTT policing I thought - did they escort our fans all the way from Stoke station 4 miles away?
  9. Saw a suitcase stuffed under the turnstile at the away end - was it yours?
  10. Yes, we could and should have held on for a point, and yes, we did compete well against a very good team bang in form. BUT Swans should have done better with all the attcking threat they created. The main difference between us and them was that while we had limited options up front, they had plenty. They always had extra men positioned strategically around our box, so when something didn't work, they could pass back and put a ball through to an unmarked man. Without another solid performance from Reuben, who was everywhere and my MOTM, we could have been exposed and a bigger defeat was on the card. He did well against the big targetman in Jason Scotland, especially in the first half. But his yellow card, harshly given in my view, made him more tentative late in the game and made us more vulnerable at the back. Their first goal was created when for the first time Scotland was able to run clear of defence into the box and his low cross was cruelly deflected by advancing McDonald. Their second was bit of a farce, with two half clearances from Stammy and someone else falling neatly to Swansea. It was a definite penalty, right at our end, and Davies was clearly clipped just inside the box. The late penalty appeal in the injury time could have been given, but was nowhere near as clear cut. Still, good combative performance, and yes, we need a striker!!!
  11. Bury wants £400k for Bishop, Parker at £200k and still available as far as I know
  12. Gregan and Philliskirk (both ex-North Ender) had a hand in the deal, according to PNE official site. A nice interview and obviously he's looking forward to stepping up to Championship football. I think PNE will avoid relegation - not sure about Lashers Best of luck!
  13. When I booked my coach ticket last night just before ko, they only had 12 names on the list. I suppose after the latest win, a few more will be tempted to make the journey. After missing the last two away (to Yeovil and Gills), I hope to see the start of another amazing away win streak beginning with Swans. Anyone else joining? BTW, they say no pubs near Liberty admit away fans. Do they serve alcohol inside?
  14. No, there is only one option to extend for 12 months. He can go on a free, and if he does Porter, the club will get nowt. Chron seems to think that club is likely to sell Trotter, reputedly for £350k, worth up to £500k based on appearances, with a hefty sell-on clause no doubt. Surely we can't match personal terms Argyle is prepared to offer, and it's a step up for the lad. Whether he gets much first team action remains to be seen, but there is every incentive for the young man to prove himself at higher level. Best of luck to him if he goes.
  15. Straight red or two yellows - immediate ban. 5 yellows - kicks in 7 days after.
  16. It is difficult for any League 1 club to attract decent, proven players, unless you have bottomless funds like Leeds, Forest or Doncaster. Clubs that try to run their finance on a prudent business basis will always struggle, as others can offer better wages and incentives, and a realistic chance of playing at higher level. Despite our Cup heroics, lying 13th in League One doesn't exactly set the pulse racing - if only we could unearth non-league gems like Fitz Hall and Wayne Andrews! Hope there will be more activities as the transfer window begins to shut, as players and agents get more desperate to be fixed up somewhere permanently or on loan. Also it has been said by many lower league managers that there are plenty of players in higher leagues quite content to pick up good wages playing in the stiffs, rather than drop down a division and earn their keep in first team actions.
  17. Not a sell-out, but I can see getting about 11,000 - 4,000 from Hudds and 7,000 home. Sad, though, that we had to give the small RRE section to away fans. It will be just like the play-off semi against Lashers - being outsung and out-supported. Maybe the team play better as they feel more like an away tie???
  18. against Leeds. KK playing. Interesting to hear what Shez has to say about Latics.
  19. We won 7 aways in a row, but haven't won in league at home since September! What we have learnt is that a brilliant away performance doesn't automatically translate into the same at home. Probably to do with the negative, defensive tactics visiting teams adopt by having 10 men behind the ball. We must find a way of breaking down overcrowded midfield and massed defence. The last two teams to visit BP - Forest and Walsall - tried to nullify our wing play by having two men patrolling each wing and crowding us out upfield. We need a creative playmaker in the middle who can put through defence-splitting passes - like Wellens last season. We want defenders who are willing to attack, but not put in an early, ieefective cross like Eardley but like Lomax who is comfortable on the ball and play to the feet, as he did for the winner against Everton. So I'd leave Lomax on left, Stam and Trott in the centre and Hazell on the right.
  20. £200k can be in instalment, based on appearance, performance etc. So if he fails to deliver, we won't lose too much.
  21. It said on fishul site that blue and tangerine would be retained as the second away strip next season.
  22. Blackpool agreed to sell Parker for £200k to Barnsley, and Keigan was offered a personal term inb line with an untried strike at Championship level, but he snubbed it. There are no other offers outstanding. If we offer Lashers the same fee and give him a salary commensurate with a proven Leage One player, it may look promising. I know he is bit of a sh*** and has an attitude bigger than his ability warrants, but could do a job for us, as he did for Lashers last season.
  23. £10 for seasoncard holders in advance, £15 on the day, as everyone else.
